The Grass Valley Chapter of Songsalive is seeking performers to come
and play their original music the first Wednesday of every month.
Showcase is held at The Beat, 114 West Main Street, Grass Valley from
8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. See the photos page for some pictures. We have a
very receptive audience who are supporting the shows.
Contact host/chapter coordinator Michael Gregory at 530-274-1835 for
more info.
You might want to try Ladyslipper in Durham, NC. They have a catalog and they only distribute and sell women's music. They mostly sell through their catalog...
Don't know their specific info, but just Google them under "Ladyslipper" or some such.
"The Goddess Within" benefit c.d. is selling well via our website www.artistsforchange.bz ...with proceeds funding women's shelters and organizations, etc. We are working on a number of fundraisers and will keep you posted!
In the meantime, can anyone suggest a music distributor?
Thanks!
Dianna Paige

word and in deed. It all matters, it all gives me energy, hope and the
strength to continue.
If you are interested in joining our efforts while getting your music out
there to a broader audience please enter this contest. See Below for
details. Winners will have their music heard from coast to coast via our 50

ABOUT CIC:
The Concert Industry Consortium was founded in 1994 to foster greater
communication among key professionals within the concert business and also
between the concert business and other elements of the music business. The
partnership comprises executives from major booking
agencies, concert promotion, facility management and record companies.
The CIC seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas between key decision
makers, enhance the flow of information among professionals, and make a
positive contribution toward enriching the concert industry's health.
The concert industry landscape has changed significantly since the
inception of the consortium; the business itself is constantly being
redefined. Consolidation, new technology, and global economics are
bringing unprecedented challenges and opportunities to our industry. These
forces of change have made the CIC more valuable.
Our ability to adapt to the new business climate depends on our ability to
brainstorm, address common concerns, and share ideas that will brighten
the future for all of us. The CIC's goal is to help the concert industry
not just survive, but also to evolve and prosper.

The San Francisco Songsalive! Showcase has a new venue and time! Starting
in February, we will be strutting our stuff the 2nd Monday of the month from
9-11 PM at
The Canvas Gallery and Lounge
1200 9th Ave. (at Lincoln)
San Francisco, CA
This is a wonderful venue with lots of foot traffic from the Haight and the
Sunset, right next to Golden Gate Park. We will be showcasing 3-5
performers each month in a 'Songwriter-in-the-Round' format. Which means
we'll take turns and get to hear each others' wonderful music.
Our first showcase will be Monday February 14th, from 9-11 PM. So I think
we should focus on love songs in honor of Valentine's Day. (Not a rule, but
a theme, OK?)
So let me know if you're interested in performing at this showcase, OK?

I think you know the answer to that !!
Created by Galaris LLC, the GMD contains over 1700 pages that will provide access to all the industry contacts in the U.S.A that you need in the music business: their names, business descriptions, phone numbers, fax number, mailing address, web and e-mail addresses, all organized by category and by state for fast and easy browsing. "The Galaris Musicians Directory is by far the most comprehensive & outstanding directory out there. The GMD is in a user friendly format that makes other sources seem relatively antiquated. It can't be beat as a resource tool that utilizes technology to the maximum in an industry that can be at times daunting in its complex contact data. If you're looking to expand & progress your career objectives, the GMD is a tool that you don't want to be without."
-Leigh Silberg - United Global Artists.
"Easy and fun to use, I can certainly see how a musician would get a LOT out of this huge database of contacts and other information. WOW. A lot of work must have gone into this. Congratulations, Galaris! I think you have a winner."
-Jodi Krangle - Proprietress Muse's Muse.

First, select the category you wish to browse from, then select the state or the letter to see the listings for your selected category. You may also browse through page by page using the back and next buttons on the top navigational bar or find your contact via the keyword search option. You may also print any page you wish, and click the active links to immediately go to the website of your desired contact. As soon as a new version or edition is available with even more contacts you will get an email from us telling you about the update and from where you can download it. After the GMD software is downloaded and registered there is no need to be connected to the Internet anymore to browse it, unless of course you want to send an email or visit a site using the active links in the GMD.

We had a nice show with solid sets by Mike Strasser, Sonya Greta,
Stacey Raskin and myself. This was Sonya's and Stacey's first
Songsalive Showcase performance and they were both on with their songs
and repertoire with the audience. Unfortunately, Steven Kacsmar got
into to traffic problems on the Bay Bridge and couldn't make the show.
We missed his energy along with Dave Baldwin's who was doing sound over
at the Fox and Goose. MIke Strasser's performance was up to the high
bar he set for himself last month with ongoing stories within and
without his songs. I really liked the one about outsourcing and his
muse.
Next month we'll be back at the Fifth String for another Showcase on
the 26th. I'll have some photos from the Dec and Jan show shortly.

****************************************** Los Angeles Songsalive! WORKSHOPS

Our workshops often feature guest speakers representing all facets of the industry from A&R, publishers, successful producers, CD production and distribution execs and, of course, writers and composer who share their ideas, tips & techniques on all aspects of the songwriting craft.
The workshops are open to all songwriters and music composers of all levels and music genres and you don't have to be a Songsalive! member to attend. It is usually best to register your attendance in advance.
The first half is solely dedicated to an in-the-round workshop where writers present one song each - either on tape, CD or live - followed by a guest speaker in the second half and plenty of time to talk and network. SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS in 2005 to be announced, hand picked from publishers to record company A&R, well- known songwriters, authors, artists and music industry reps.
