HELD AT
The home of Michael Dean Goodman and PremShakti
4855 Belvedere Rd., Haverhill (West Palm Beach) FL 33415
Just west of the Palm Beach Airport, 2 blocks west of Military Tr., on the NE Corner of
Belvedere Rd. & Park Ln.
DIRECTIONS
1. From I-95, exit at Belvedere Rd. - then turn left onto Belvedere Rd. westbound
2. Pass the airport on the left, go around the curve, pass Military Trail (stoplight/Wal-Mart)
3. Turn right on the 2nd street past Military Tr. (Park Ln.) 1 block before Haverhill Rd.
Our house is the NE corner of Belvedere Rd. & Park Ln. (address '4855' on the mailbox).
PARKING
1. The 1st 20 cars to arrive should park in our front and back yards.
2. After that, please park only on the east (right) side of Park Ln. - NOT blocking any
driveway (look carefully). Drop off heavy objects (drums, food, etc.) first & then park.
3. Once cars are parked a full block down Park Ln., please go back out onto Belvedere, go
one block east, turn left (north) onto Concord Ave., and park on the (left) west side of the
street. That is a shorter walk than parking far down Park Ln., and is safer (closer to a
busy street, better lit).
When parking on any street, be smart - don't leave wallets, purses, cameras, etc.
sitting in plain view.
4. Please don't pull into any neighbors' driveways or yards to turn around, especially late
at night when leaving. The activity, and bright lights, disturb and frighten them, and they
complain to the City. To exit our neighborhood, you don't have to turn around on Park
Ln. Continue north and there's a street 2 blocks down going left (west) to Haverhill Rd.

to increase in our lives. The final round is for sending healing to others and the planet.

Open to women only

• 8:00-10:00pm Womens' Circle (ceremony, drum circle, etc.)
We've been meeting near the new Moon for 2 1/2 years at various women's homes in
the Lake Worth/West Palm Beach area. It is an evening of nurturing, networking, spiri-
tual ceremony, and celebration.
This month we'll have our 2nd womens' drum circle. The first one, a few months ago
was a huge success, so we're doing it again! You may drum, dance, or just listen and
enjoy. No experience is necessary. Bring a drum or other rhythm-maker if you have
one (drum, tambourine, rattle - even a pot and a wooden spoon!), or use one of our
extras. Other instruments, to accompany the drumming, are also welcome (flute, gui-
tar, harmonium, didjeradoo, etc.). Our member, Marijah Speciale, from Marijah and the
Reggae AllStars, may bless us by giving us another drum listen. And we have a number
of members who are experienced with drum circles and will give us guidance to create a
beautiful, harmonious experience.
Please help us keep these gatherings alcohol-free and drug-free.
The circle often gathers outside, so please dress for the weather. In case of rain, we
will have the drum circle indoors in the big meeting room.
You are welcome and encouraged to bring business cards, brochures, etc. and to net-
work with other local women.

FRIDAY, JULY 18TH
Palm Beach County - Full Moon Drum Circle (Lake Worth Beach)
Monthly on the night of the full Moon, Lake Worth FL, 8-11pm (or later - till they close the
park), free (except for parking meters)
"For the Lunar eclipse in February we had over 160 people. Generally we have 80+
drummers, dancers, fire-performers, and quiet on-lookers. This has become a won-
derful 'tribal' celebration, the perfect confluence of the 5 elements - soft sand under-
foot (Earth/smell), gently-lapping waves (water/taste), full Moon reflecting the Sun
(fire/sight), soft ocean breezes (air/touch), and enchanting rhythms (space/hearing) -
this is sub-tropical South Florida at its finest. Come join us - don't miss this gather-
ing!"
NOTES
a. The park closes at 11pm, although rarely does anyone come around to enforce that.
b. Remember, it can be chilly on the beach during the cooler months - dress accordingly.
c. THIS EVENT HAPPENS RAIN OR SHINE - in case of rain, or if it gets too windy on the
beach, we drum/dance under the huge picnic shelter (pavilion) in the same park, 100
yds. west of the beach - you drive past it on your left after you've entered the park. It's
well-protected by a hill from the ocean wind.
d. Fire-performers are welcome to perform right in the drum circle.
e. Dancers of all styles and experience levels are warmly welcome to improvise to the
drumming, to request particular rhythms, and to interact with the drummers.

FRIDAY, JULY 4TH, 11TH, 18TH, 25TH Updated listing
Sunsport Gardens Bonfire Drum Circle
Every Friday, 9pm to midnight, free
Drumming occurs around a big bonfire outdoors in the special drum circle clearing by the
lake. In rainy weather, they drum inside a building next to the pool.
Sometimes attendance by drummers is very light if some of the regular drummers
haven't arranged with each other to go out there, and also to promote the event.
We suggest that you call before driving out there to verify that it's happening -
that it's a night where drummers have arranged to come.

Wellness Website Needs Quotes from Drummers
I am building a wellness website...trance dance is included. Naturally drumming has a huge part
in it. I am looking for a few drummers to share their drum journeys in a couple of lines that will be
quoted. What it feels like to drum, the connective or spiritual experiences in lifting consciousness
through resonance, about dancers and rhythm, etc...
Thanks.

Volunteer Needed to Run Kirtan Calendar (Meetup Group)
Seeking a volunteer to promote kirtan by any/all artists in South Florida. You should be capable
of learning to maintain a calendar that announces events by administering a Meetup Group
(which is already established and running). You do NOT need to organize events - just distribute
e-mails announcing the events that others plan and host. It takes approximately 3-4 hours per
month. Rewards are intangible, but priceless. Prior experience with Meetup.com, Yahoo Groups,
or similar application is helpful, but not required. Assitance in learning the skills will be provided.

Drum Rhythms Education Website
by Jim Salem <jsalem@...>
Learn some new rhythms or subtleties: http://www.newview.org/salem/rhythm.html
Excerpt from the home page:
Here you will find transcriptions of rhythms I have learned over the years. While I have tried
to give credit where appropriate, please assume that any mistakes are my own. Publishing
rhythm transcriptions is a tricky business.
1. Rhythms are played differently in different areas.
2. Notation cannot capture the feel of a rhythm.
3. Traditional rhythms are part of a culture.
Respect those who have created the music in the world.
To learn traditional rhythms, take classes with the Masters.
Listen before you play. Communicate. Open your heart.

Drummers Needed for Lammas (Pagan) Ritual - August 2nd
(Rehearsal is this Saturday, July 19th!)
I am Black Diamond, a member of Moonpath CUUPs (Council of Unitarian Universalist
Pagans). I have created (and will be officiating at) a new ritual for Lammas this year, the
Green Corn Festival. It will be in the style of an Intertribal Green Corn Ceremony (First
Harvest). It will be on Saturday evening, August 2nd, at the Unitarian Church of Fort
Lauderdale, 3790 NW 21st Ave. (north of Oakland Park Blvd.), Ft. Lauderdale FL. We
will be doing Native American-style drumming (however, on individual drums). I wish to
extend an invitation to any drummers who would be interested in helping with that.
There will be a practice drumming session with Debe Fischer, my Lead Drummer, and
me at the Unitarian Church of Fort Lauderdale at 2:30pm (on the patio), on July 19th,
during the Moonpath Psychic Fair [see complete description in the Broward County
Edition of this Drum Circle Newsletter]. Drummers wishing to join in should bring a
beater (drumstick) for their drum. Shakers, maracas, jingles, rainsticks, and native flutes
are also welcome.
For the actual ritual, Native American-type dress and adormnents, while not required,
would be enjoyable. This is not a "mock" festival, it is respectful of Native customs. Out
of respect for those customs, women are requested to dress modestly, with leg-covering
clothing.
Blessings to you.

F. WHAT ARE YOUR DRUMMING/DANCING OPPORTUNITIES?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This month there are about 70 opportunities to drum/dance in our SE Florida area -
from Miami-Dade (13 events), through Broward (34 events), Palm Beach (18 events),
and Martin (5 events) Counties!
• Some repeat weekly, or monthly, or on the full or new Moons, and some are special one-time
events
• Some are outdoors (parks, beaches, backyards...) and some are indoors (homes, businesses,
churches, bars, arenas...)
• Some are in the daytime and some are at night
• Some are hidden away & private and some are public & almost exhibitionistic
• Some are eclectic world-beat improv/jam sessions and some focus on more repetitive trance-
drumming, or on drumming from just one cultural tradition (African, Latin, Middle-Eastern,
Native American, etc.)
• Some have bonfires, some have candles, some have the Sun or the Moon
• Some have entertainers (fire-twirlers, fire-breathers, poi-spinners, etc.)
• Some are strongly-led, some are mildly guided, and some are leaderless
• Some are flavored by a particular spiritual tradition (Pagan, Christian, Native American, Yogic/
Vedic, etc.) and some are free of any mention of any beliefs (politics, religion, etc.)
• Most are clothed, but one weekly drum circle is hosted by a clothing-optional (nudist) community
• Some have lessons before-hand and some don't
• Some attract only a handful of participants and some draw 100 or even 400+ drummers/dancers!
Try out a few drum circles and find the style(s) and vibes that you enjoy.
