I sent this out yesterday, but no one seems to have gotten it.
The e-mail demons at Yahoo Groups seem to have 'eaten' it.
So I'm sending it again. If Yahoo Groups burps, and sends it
out twice, please accept my apologies and throw one away.

If you are having trouble reading these newsletters
(e.g. if the entire right side of the newsletter is cut off),
please let me know via e-mail the following 3 facts:
(a) whether you read these by going to the website
or receive them as actual e-mails, (b) whether you're
on a Mac or PC, (c) what e-mail program you use.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM BY
TURNING OFF 'WORD WRAP' IN THEIR E-MAIL
PROGRAM'S PREFERENCES (phrased like: "wrap
lines at 80 characters" - choose "no"). Please let me
know if that works.
I've also made this edition of the newsletter much less
wide - again, to try and solve this unusual problem.
Let me know.
If these things don't help, I'll have to send the newsletter
either as a .pdf attachment, or as a link to a webpage.
Knowledgeable advice is very welcome. - Michael
The Spring Equinox
for SE Florida is
Friday, March 20th, at 12:44pm There are 2 drum circles advertising themselves as big "Spring Equinox Gatherings". Here they are: 1. Sunsport Gardens Spring Equinox Bonfire Drum Circle - hosted by Brother Judah FRIDAY, MARCH 20TH, 8PM-MIDNIGHT PALM BEACH COUNTY After-the-drum-circle party - poolside - midnight-3 am. Admission to Sunsport Gardens is free on drum circle nights after 5pm. Drumming occurs around a big bonfire outdoors in the special drum circle clearing by the lake. In rainy weather, they drum inside a building next to the pool. "Come enjoy a springtime celebration evening with a wonderful blend of the performing arts. Embrace powerful drumming, bellydancing and freestyle dancing, and fire twirling - around a huge bonfire. If you'd like to stay over, please call and reserve your overnight, or weekend accommodations. Tent camping is available around the bonfire. Tenting fee: $16. Tailgating parties are welcome. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served between 8am-8pm..." - Judah [Editor's note: when Judah runs a drum circle celebration at Sun- sport, lots of good drummers and radiant dancers attend. And his leadership really helps to create great rhythms and coherent playing in the group. This will be a wonderful event! It's encouraging that our drumming community has grown so big and divers that folks up north, in Palm Beach County and beyond, have an alternative Equi- nox venue like this now, in case they don't want to travel so far south to Birch State Park. For example, for me in West Palm Beach it's a 20-minute drive instead of over an hour to Birch in Ft. Lauder- dale.] INFO 800-551-7217, 561-793-0423, frontdesk@..., http://www.sunsportgardens.com/ HELD AT Sunsport Gardens, 14125 North Road, Loxahatchee FL NOTES 1. The Tequesta Bonfire Drum Circle - Celebrating the Spring Equinox FRIDAY, MARCH 2OTH, 7PM-MIDNIGHT BROWARD COUNTY (Note: NO ONE admitted after 10pm! - park entry gates closed) Held every 3 months, at each Solstice & Equinox (start of each season). $7 per adult (kids under 10 free) - fee goes toward event costs (staffing - hiring even more park rangers for the night, insurance, bringing in handi- capped-accessible porta-potties, etc.). Left-over income is donated to a non-profit group that supports improvements at Birch State Park, called Friends of Birch State Park, Inc. The entrance fee, and any further do- nation that you are moved to give, are love offerings to the preservation of one of the last green spaces on our barrier islands in Broward County. Thank you! INCLUDES • A huge bonfire • An (optional) potluck feast - if you plan to partake, please bring a dish or drink • A lighting of the bonfire ritual at 7pm • Great live drumming (loud till 11pm, quieter from 11pm-midnight) • Beautiful dancing (bellydancers, free-form dancers, etc.) • Fire-performers (must bring proof of insurance) • Community altar PHILOSOPHY "People of all life-affirming spiritual and philosophical paths are invited to come together under the beautiful canopy of the sky, in a preserved 'na- tive Florida coastal habitat'. It's an opportunity to align our thoughts and energies with our own core of being, with the seasonal shifts on our pla- net (Earth), with the energy effects of our star (the Sun), and with the powers of the universe that form all things (which you may call God/ Goddess, Spirit, Nature, laws of evolution, etc.). The Tequesta (tuh-kes- tuh) Drum Circle is named after one of the ancient tribes who inhabited lands around SE Florida prior to European and Seminole arrival - and gives us an opportunity to remember that legacy. This is a family-oriented celebration for those who hold the importance of our relationship to our home planet, the Earth. Come be a part of the celebration, look up into the night sky, breathe, and remember our intrin- sic connection to both planet and universe. Every 90 days or so our planet transits a key point on its journey around our parent Star (the Sun) which shifts the balance of light entering into our world. This light continually feeds a tremendously complex array of living systems that have co-evolved for billions of years. The shift cre- ates a cascading ebb and flow of cycles in each hemisphere creating what we know as Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, and inspires us to observe these natural transits of our planet as Sacred Days." EVENT GUIDELINES - VERY IMPORTANT TO READ! • Performers are very welcome - fire performers perform in the desig- nated area only please. You must bring proof of your performance liability insurance. We welcome fire performers with open arms. You are a rich part of our seasonal celebration. We have two things happening. (1) We are in the height of Dry Season & Birch State Park is currently very dry. Fortunately the Primitive Camp Area is surrounded by Mangrove, which makes it better, but most of Florida is still under fire alerts. (2) There is also a liability factor, since injuries can occur. We've spoken with various fire artists and know about personal liability insurance. The best site we've found so far is http://www.specialtyinsuranceagency.com/performer-insurance.html They charge $200 per year. At previous events we were advised of cheaper policies. If anyone has more information, please let us know; we'll pass the information along. • NO photography of any kind, anywhere! This is a big one. This is about respect again. To those who regularly come to the event, this is already clear, but please, if you're inviting newcomers explain how important anonymity is to many people at these intentional events. • NO intoxication - NO alcohol, NO drugs (Police are on-site.) Unfortunately there have been the beginnings of some out-of-hand behavior at this event. The vast majority of folks are absolutely wonderful & respect- ful. But we have had an arrest & a few ejections. Folks abusing the space and not using common sense will cause the event to get shut down, depriv- ing the whole community with their thoughtlessness & disrespect. Mark is a very laid-back Park Ranger, but the Park Service is not! Do a search on "Temporary Culture" - it's practiced at Burning Man. Imagine entering a place, giving the community total respect, and then leaving it cleaner and better than you found it - gifting the event rather than using it. • Be responsible • Be respectful • Recycle (bins are provided). Please bring biodegradable products. • No pets (except for disability purposes). Pets are safer at home. • Table available at the entrance to distribute environmental or holistic information • Quiet drumming after 11pm We will 'gong' at 11pm and ask that you respect a downturn in the energy. This shows respect to the many people living nearby, around Birch State Park. • NO playing in/near the fire • NO unsupervised minors Anyone under 18 must have an adult with them. Last time we had kids lighting tiki torches on fire and a few other things that were a bit scary. Kids are very welcome, but please keep an eye on your kids. HOSTED BY Moon Path Circle, Inc.
