1. DRUMMING/DANCING CIRCLES - ONE TIME EVENTS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATED

*** SATURDAY-SUNDAY, MARCH 10TH-11TH ***

Moonfaire

A quarterly gathering of spiritual and magikal people. 2007 schedule:
March 10th-11th, June 9th-10th, September 8th-9th, December 8th-9th;
entrance fee of $9.75 for adults, seniors $6.75, kids 7-12 $5.00, under
6 free. If you would like to come back for the next day you enter free
if you bring a paying friend.

The epicenter of this Moonfaire is the Elemental Drum Circle, running
all day around a beautiful young tree to remind us of Mother Earth's
fertility and to signify a beginning as well as hope for the future.
In the drum circle, we will let spirit guide us. You are welcome to
dance, walk, jump, stomp, Riverdance, tap dance, or whatever, within
the circle (except no moshing/slam-dancing, and no nudity/skyclad as
it's a family event).

We'll feature some of the best metaphysical product vendors, artisans,
card readers, psychics, healers, and holistic therapists in Florida
which will be arranged in a village type setting with the drum circle
in the middle. (Not all vendors take credit cards - please bring cash
also if you plan to shop.) Booths are available to groups or indivi-
duals at very reasonable rates - for vending, fund-raising, education,
socializing, etc.

Held at: The Coral Castle, South Miami FL

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** FRIDAY-SUNDAY, APRIL 27TH-29TH ***

Paralounge Drum Gathering in Florida

Held at: Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park, Live Oak FL

Purpose: to teach unity and fellowship; to understand primitive instru-
ments and their cultures; to entertain, educate, and unify the many
drum circle communities in the SE U.S. Held twice a year - April and
September. Includes facilitated drum circles around a roaring fire,
beginning around 9:30pm and lasting all through the night!

Workshops: Yoga, African Dance, African rhythm, African folk tales,
didgeridoo (novice and advanced), fire dance rhythms, healing drum
therapy. Held all day and early evening.

Info: http://www.paralounge.net

Camp or rent a "cabin" (an RV, actually). It's a family event. One
participant (Mark Richards) reported: "I saw no use of illegal sub-
stances and very little alchohol consumption. Dogs, however, are not
welcome at the event and must be restricted to the campsite area,
since a djembe can look a lot like a fire hydrant to a dog."

"Anyone interested in traveling there as a group - maybe rent a van
or something - please call Mark Richards in Miami at 786-316-2178.
His plan is to leave Friday morning and return very, very late Sunday
night."

--- SPECIAL DRUM CIRCLE - OF INTEREST TO ALL THREE COUNTIES ---

*** TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH ***

Tequesta Drum Circle (around a huge bonfire!)

Every Solstice & Equinox - the Start of Each Season, 6:30pm till midnight

Held at: Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., Ft.
Lauderdale FL

* $5 entrance fee per adult (kids free) goes toward event costs (insur-
ance, hiring the required park rangers for the night, etc.) - any money
remaining will be donated to the citizen support organization Friends
of Birch State Park, Inc.

* "People of all life-affirming spiritual and philosophical paths are in-
vited to come together under the beautiful canopy of the sky, in a
preserved 'native Florida coastal habitat' It's an opportunity to
align our thoughts and energies with our own core of being, with the
seasonal shifts on our planet (Earth), with the energy effects of our
star (the Sun), and with the powers of the universe that form all
things (which you may call God/Goddess, Spirit, Nature, laws of evo-
lution, etc.). The Tequesta (tuh-kes-tuh) Drum Circle is named after
one of the ancient tribes who inhabited lands around SE Florida prior
to European and Seminole arrival - and gives us an opportunity to re-
member that legacy. Ceremonial dress is welcomed, but not required."

* Includes: a roaring bonfire; a big (optional) potluck feast - bring a
dish or drink that would be enough for yourself; an Earth-centered ri-
tual to welcome in the season (at about 10:30pm) along with a collec-
tive altar where you may place objects to be charged through the inten-
tions of the evening. Performers are very welcome (fire-dancers, belly
dancers, etc.).

* Editor's note: This is one of the biggest and best drum circles in our
area. It only happens four times each year (at the changes of season -
the solstices and equinoxes), bringing together drummers and dancers
from four counties for one big unified celebration. Don't miss it!
You don't have to be a good dancer or drummer - everyone is lovingly wel-
come and appreciated. You can drum (or play any percussion gadget that
you have), dance, or just watch and socialize.

* Info: Moon Path Circle, Inc., http://moonpathcircle.org/index.htm,
