Remember, it can be chilly on the beach during the cooler months - dress
accordingly.
Park in the municipal lot (enter off A1A), toward the south end, $4 fee,
closes 1am (you will be ticketed if parked after that). Drum circle is
on the beach just off the parking lot, near the volleyball courts,
across from Bahia Mar, about a block south of the Yankee Clipper Hotel
complex. Since 1995.

The beach closes at midnight. Remember, it can be chilly on the beach

The drum circle is at the 1st lifeguard station north of the pier. If
the wind off the ocean gets too chilly, we move just across the parking

TOPIC 3: CHANGES TO THE REGULAR (REPEATING) DRUMMING/DANCING EVENTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. LAKE WORTH FULL MOON DRUM CIRCLE - NEW INFORMATION
Now we can drum even if it's too cold or if it's raining!
Usually we drum right on the beach, but:
a. When the wind off the ocean gets too chilly in the cooler months,
we've discovered a flat, grassy area in the park just across the
parking lot from the Lake Worth Pier, just 100 yds. from our
usual beach location. You can still see the moon over the ocean,
but there's more protection from the wind, plus picnic benches to
sit on, and grass for the dancers to dance on.
b. If it rains, we can go underneath the big picnic shelter in that
same park, right across the parking lot from our usual beach.
The shelter could hold 100 people, and has lots of benches for
seating.
Now, almost nothing can stand between us and a full moon celebration
of drumming and dancing in Palm Beach County each month.
We're also looking into the possibility of building a bonfire on the
beach.
2. NEW INFO ADDED TO OUR CALENDAR OF DRUM CIRCLES THIS WEEK:
a. More accurate start time and directions for the Stuart Drum Circle
b. New location for the Miami Beach Full Moon Drum Circle
c. 2 monthly drum circles on Saturdays - one in Delray Beach,
one in Deerfield Beach
d. 2 monthly drum circles sponsored by Nature's Emporium in Coral
Springs - one for women on the Tuesday evening closest to the
new moon, one for everyone on one Thursday evening each month.

TOPIC 5: MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS OF INTEREST
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. REGISTER YOUR CELL PHONE ON THE DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY
On February 1st, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemar-
keting companies and you will likely start to receive sales calls.
Of course, these calls will use up your minutes - in effect you will
be paying for these calls. To prevent this, you can call this number
from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the Federal Government's
DO NOT CALL list. You can also go to this website and enter the
information: http://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
2. GET FREE DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE (411) ON YOUR CELL PHONE
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 or more for 411 (direc-
tory assistance) calls. Instead of dialing 411 and being charged,
you can dial 800-FREE-411 (800-373-3411) without any charge at all
(except for the minutes used to make the call). You can program it
into your phone book for easy use.
3. Heart Beats - Drumming
From http://www.dailyom.com, January 6, 2006
That rhythm renews us is no secret. Drumming is the oldest form of
music on the planet. Virtually every culture that exists or has existed
on earth has practiced some form of drumming. In Africa, the beating of
a drum continues to be an important part of significant ceremonies and
holiday celebrations. Native American cultures use drumming as a means
to reconnect an individual's mental and physical selves. Throughout his-
tory, drumming has been a part of performing rituals, marking significant
transitions, and celebrating life's cycles. Our lives are infused with
rhythm beginning at the very moment we first sense our mother's heartbeat
in her womb.
All manner of drumming has the ability to put us in touch with our own
natural rhythms, the rhythms of the earth, and the rhythms of the people
we choose to drum with. The drum can represent the heart, and drumming
awakens the mind while stirring the soul. Drumming can take you to a
place deep inside you where you are keenly aware of your mind and your
body, as well as the vital bond between the two. Much like human beings,
each drum has its own vibration and voice. Drumming alone can help you
release tension, dispel stress and aggressive feelings, and restore your
energy. It can also give you an opportunity to reestablish your connec-
tion to Mother Earth, as the beat of a drum can represent a crack of
lightning, pounding ocean waves, or the tumult of an earthquake.
Drumming with others brings with it many benefits. Taking part in a
drumming circle attunes us to the invisible energy that exists between
us while uniting us in a common purpose. Drumming can be relaxing as
well as energizing. It quiets mental chatter and can create a peaceful
meditative state. In Navajo lore, the drum is the Great Spirit's favor-
ite instrument. It is said that this is why all human beings were given
a heartbeat. The rhythmic beating of a drum can move us into new realms
of consciousness. There is no right or wrong way to drum, and everyone
has the innate ability to create rhythm. When you drum with intention,
you'll discover the rhythms that move you.
