Hello all.
I hope your summer was great.
I've been keeping pretty busy these past few months. I just spent the last few months touring with this great band from Denver, DeVotchKa, whose music is featured heavily in the new Fox/Searchlight Film, "Little Miss Sunshine." I am also pleased to announce that I am officially adding "Tour Manager" to my list of talents!! Tour Managing is something that I seem to enjoy doing, along with live sound, as a complete tour support package.
I have also been busy in the studio. Flash In Blue's new record "Che in a Tailspin," my first fully blown protools project, recorded at Mad Oak over the last several months, is finally going to be released this fall with a release party slated for November at the Skybar.
I also mastered the new Katzenjammer Kabaret record on my ghetto home Nuendo setup and that album is now available. There are several mastering projects in the works here at home and as they get underway I will keep you posted.
I am back from tour for a few months and naturally eager to get back in this whole music biz thang. I am also eager to get back to playing some music again. Some of you know that I've been sitting in on keyboards for my good friends Count Zero and Joe Turner and the Seven Levels. I just sat in on drums for Jeffrey Simmons for a video broadcast we taped over at Somerville Cable Access Television, which should air sometime in October, and next Saturday, I will be playing keyboards for my good friend Cathy Cappozzi (Ziaf, All the Queen's Men) and her new project, Axemunkee, at the Lizard Lounge. That's Saturday, 23rd of September.
You can see me knobtwiddling here and there in clubland, but I am putting out the call to all of you!!
I am currently available for all kinds of things musical. So if you have need of a soundguy, tour manager, or musician for anything upcoming, I hope you'll hit me up with a nice friendly email.
I am still playing drums and bass, too, and itching to do some studio stuff.
My rates are still pretty reasonable and you all know about my work ethic.
I haven't heard from a lot of you in a while, so here's a great chance to reconnect.
If you no longer want to be on my email list, please reply to this email and write in the subject line:
"Oh Good God, Please, No!!"
Anyway. Hope you're all doing well. This newsletter has been long overdue and I hope to keep the love lines flowing!!
In the meantime, feel free to visit my myspace, and I should have some cool stuff updated on my Sonic Enhancement website really soon.
Cheers,
Joel Simches
