To Scott's point earlier about where the money is going, CDBaby has a
'for artists' section that goes over that. I think for sales on
CDBaby, the band keeps 90% of the selling price: $9 x 90% = $8.10 in
the case of Halfworld. iTunes and their ilk pay on average 60% of
their selling price to CDBaby, which in turn pays out 90% to the band.
So, $7 x 60% x 90% = about $3.80 for Halfworld.
So, CDBaby sounds like a better deal for the band, dollar-wise. And
I'm all for sending this band the beer money they so richly deserve.
On the other hand, I might have read that wrong, or it may just be
marketing BS. Or maybe a decent showing on iTunes gets a little more
notice for UHP, Freezepop, Anarchy Club, etc. I don't have those answers.
Scott, has any of this actually answered your question? What to do
with the bootleg files? -B
