The Beer Bust was great. Â I haven't made the final count but we collected around $ 1,600 for the food shelf!!! Jill from the Down South bar donated some great items for the silent auction. Â Thanks to all that helped made it happen. Â
We have pretty much filled the registration table volunteer list but we still have a few volunteer positions open for HAMA.
1) Buffett Buffet Coordinator to make sure the tables are set up and we have table cloths, utensils, plates, napkins, and we have power for electric appliannces (I have plenty of extension cords and a plug strip or two).
2) Connie Nelson has volunteered to head up the decorating committee for the tables and such. She needs a couple of volunteers to work with her on that.
Dave Appelbaum is the overall coordinator for the PHlocking so you can email either him or me if you'd like to volunteer.
At the Sept BNB, it was decided to donate the remaining 40 or so tee shirts with this design to our troops in Iraq/Afghanistan. This is an informational letter to you so that you'll know what the disposition of these shirts is. We've had them in inventory for several years and our attempts to sell them at the phlockings have been futile.
A motion has been made by an administrative staff member and seconded to re-elect the Bwanas intact for 2009 in order to insure continuity in the running of the club (this doesn't affect me as the HeadBwana is elected for a 3-yr term). I contacted each Bwana and they all agreed to serve an additional year in their current capacity if this motion passes.
Electing the Bwanas is the single most important thing that you as Admin Staff do each year, so please evaluate this motion and vote accordingly. I need to have your Thumbs Up or Thurmbs Down by midnight on Friday, October 3.
Here are the current Bwanas:
First Mate --- Terri Merrigan
Island Population Control --- Mary Chamberlain
Island Jungle Drummer --- Tracy Campbell
Island Purser --- Tim Wulf
Island Bartender --- Jon Iannazzo
Island Manatee (Charity) --- Marilyn Listvan
As an aside, I want to thank you all for your timely voting on Too Drunk to Fish for THR 2009. I had a great response in the alloted time.
At the August BNB Bidness meeting we voted to invite Too Drunk to Fish from Sioux Falls, SD to play at THR 2009. This needs to be confirmed by the Admin staff. Click on the link to find out more about them. They'll bring the 4-piece band for the party.
Please email me a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down so we can finalize the details if the majority of the voting members agree.
We need to push the meeting either back til the following week or earlier in the week of 8/18. Tim and I will be out of town and Marilyn and at least several others are going to the Iguanas/Sonny Landreth concert at the Zoo that night.
Attached is the interim report for our club charity and public service achievements for the first half of 2008. As you can see, we've had a great first half and the second half is shaping up to be another great 6 months!
Thank you for all of your hard work and I'm really looking forward to the rest of this year and onward!
PHINS UP!

I just talked to Marilyn and we will be presenting our donation check to Store to Door at the Bloomington Cub Foods that's located at 84th St and Lyndale Ave S at 8:00 a.m. sharp this Thursday, June 5. We'd love to have a good group so if any of you can make it, we'd like to have you.
Store to Door shops that Cub on Thursday and their truck and volunteers will be there instead of going to their little office to make the presentation. We scheduled it so we can get to work following the presentation.
Hope to see you there!
PHINS UP!

I plan to present this report at the meeting tonight. I never know if I'll get some more reciepts that change the numbers, I'll send out a revision if I do. This should make it easier to compile the meeting minutes.
Attached is the event by event calendar of Phlockings, etc., that we have designed to help us in our planning of these events.
Please review this as we'll be setting up committee heads/committees for the upcoming Phlockings tomorrow night at the BNB at FieldHouse in Crystal. We'll be concentrating on Beach Bum Daze, Saints, Alpine Bus, HAMA and THR since Dave and his crew have CM&AG under control.
Hope to see you tomorrow night in Crystal...

As I said last night at the BNB, I'm looking for someone to take over the Minne-Mart and keep it up to date and operating smoothly.
Here is the current inventory in 2 easy-to-use EXCEL spreadsheets. Also, I've developed an "Orders Pending" document to use for anything ordered from EmbroidMe. The 3 forms are attached.
If anyone wants to take over the Minne-Mart, I'll be more than happy to help you. Now that the inventory is counted and documented and we have the EmbroidMe program up and running, it shouldn't be too much work to keep it maintained and properly stocked.
Thanks,
John Sherwin St MinneSomePlace in Paradise headbwana@...
If you haven't already, please take a minute to
review the new embroidery design and less expensive clothing that we will add
to our Minne-Mart assortment with your appoval.
I need your answer
by tomorrow midnight (Thursday, 3/12, midnight). I've gotten quite a few
responses but I'd like to have as many as possible.
A picture of
each item plus a closeup of the Embroidery is attached.
Thanks,
John Sherwin St MinneSomePlace in Paradise HeadBwana@...
Good evening Administrators of St MinneSomePlace!!
Your Bwanas have
been working on a new Embroidery Design/clothing assortment in an attempt to
get more reasonably priced, but still darn attractive, club clothing on the
backs of our Phlock. We think that we've come up with a dynamite plan but
before we can put it in the official Minne-Mart catalog, we need your
approval. Before I get into the clothing assortment, here's the detailed
description of our objectives. Please read carefully and look at the pictures
I'm enclosing and the links to the Order Forms (which are only for out for
approval at this point and not available to the general Phlock).
One more
VERY IMPORTANT POINT --- Pending Admin Staff approval, we want
to have the samples and order forms ready for the LandShark Lager Release Party
this Saturday, 3/15. Time is of the essence, so I need your YEA or NAY response
by Thursday, 3/13. I apologize for the short time frame, but deciding on an
embroidery design, getting quotes from EmbroidMe, and finally having the
samples made took time.
Here is the Concept/Plan that we came up with.
I'm attaching pictures of each piece of clothing and a closeup of the
Embroidery Design and the links to the Order Forms to both the existing
pigment-dyed merchandise and the new Island of St MinneSomePlace design
merchandise.
1. Concept: A new embroidery merchandise plan for the Minne-Mart
has been created. It was decided that a lower priced alternative should
be offered. To do this, clothing with lighter weight material was
selected. To lower the cost of the clothing and to match the clothing
with the correct size/weight embroidery design, a smaller embroidery
design was needed. The choice was made based upon the theme of
"The Island of St MinneSomePlace". To minimize costs, a
simple island palm tree and a standard EmbroidMe funky font was selected.
This eliminated the customization costs and set up costs, but more
importantly, it states very simply the message of the island of St MSP. 2. Products: To simplify the ordering procedure, a small assortment of
the most popular items has been selected: Hat, unisex-cut T-shirt, Golf
Shirt, and two Sweatshirts. The colors chosen were the most
caribbean-styled colors available. Two sweatshirts were chosen because
of the desired price points. $20 for an attractive sweatshirt is a
great value. Since temperature and durability are also important
factors, a heavier sweatshirt is being offered at $30. Other popular
price points were also attained: $15 for a T-shirt, $25 for a golf
shirt, and $17 for a hat. The overall value, quality and the
attractiveness of the merchandise makes this merchandise plan very strong. 3. Ordering: An email will be sent to the members
offering these clothing options and the entire Minne-Mart assortment of
treasures. This will include the original embroidery Authentic Pigment
product, the club pins, the silk-screened shirts, Happy Sharks, blinking
lites, etc. The order forms will be set up as web-based so a member only
has to click on the link to access all the products. Each month, an
email can/will be sent to the members as a continual reminder that the
Minne-Mart is open! Delivery is expected to be between 7-10 days. All
sales are final...no refunds. Any product shown in the on-line catalogs
linked on the Minne-Mart is usually available in the colors/sizes shown.
Samples will be available at the phlockings. St MSP will not stock any
inventory because of the ease of ordering/reordering. 4. Special
Orders: Based upon the fact that the merchandise can be ordered any
day, any quantity, special orders are relatively easy. Merchandise options
are virtually limitless. Special orders will be processed on a pre-approved
quote basis. In other words, if you want the design embroidered on the
seat of your harley, a quote will be provided so that you know how muchit will
cost before making the commitment. Positioning of the text "St
MinneSomePlace" and the color of thread will usually be no additional
cost on any clothing option.
Should you have any
questions/comments, please reply to me or to any of the bwanas.
Here are the links for the order
forms. Check these out, too, and you will see the simplicity and flexibility
of the new plan:
Amazingly, through no fault of our own, if you order
from multiple pages it all goes to the same shopping cart.
Finally, let
me just say this is NOT, I repeat NOT, an
attempt to change the club LOGO. That is and will remain
what's on the St MSP web site and our official club stationery. This is a plan
to offer a simpler embroidery design on reasonably priced clothing.
I'm
looking forward to your response to what we as bwanas think is a terrific
addition to our Minne-Mart.
See you Thursday at Mary's Place for
Barometer Soup, Saturday at Vic's for LandShark Release, 3/20 at Kokomo's for
the March BNB, Saturday, 3/22, at the First Timberwolves/ParrotHead Phlocking,
and climaxing Sat, 4/5 at THR!
It's that time again. We're putting together the Agenda for the March BNB.
If you have any items that you know need to be on the agenda, please send them
Terri Merrigan at FirstMate@....
As you know, on the membership renewal form we ask our members for comments and suggestions. I have compiled a list of what our members had to say about 2007 and suggestions for 2008.
