After a concert for 400 earlier this month in Paris - his first there, Jimmy Buffett says he's looking to do more unusual, smaller venues just like it. "I'm going to be more adventurous," he said last night when Lifeline Live caught up with him backstage at Nissan Pavilion in the suburbs of D.C. With the usual twinkle in his eye, Buffett, 60, mentioned he's trying to line up a gig on Easter Island in the South Pacific near the big statues there. In the wake of Hoot, his last movie which didn't do well at the box office, Buffett says he'll stay out of filmmaking for awhile. "It's done too much by committee." Instead, look for a new Buffett novel come November. The title: Swine Not, about a pig in Manhattan. In the meantime, he'll be heading to his next "board meeting" - surfboard, that is. And don't worry, he added, he'll still keep his "summer job" - doing the big barefoot concerts his Parrothead fans love. "I'm not retiring."
