Just a friendly reminder of a couple of things before the big event:
1. Please remember to bring an unwrapped toy, but still in the original manufacturer's packaging to HAMA. We will also be accepting monetary contributions if you want to leave the shopping to us.
Also, we have a reservation at Channel 11 on Monday, December 14 for the 6 o'clock news to give them our collection of Toys for Tots. We'd like to have as many of the PHlock, properly attired of course, at Channel 11 at 5:45.
2. We will be collecting empty printer cartridges, toner cartridges, and old cell phones at HAMA for a new animal shelter that is being built. Bernice Botzet will have a box available for donations. Remember, if you bring an old phone, please bring the charger if you have it.
If you go to this web site,http://www.LetsSayThanks.comyou can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

JAKE SHIMABUKURO TO PERFORM WITH BETTE MIDLER IN THE PRESENCE OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN
Jake Shimabukuro, ukulele virtuoso from Hawaii, will perform his arrangement of the Beatles' tune "In My Life" with Bette Midler for The Royal Variety Performance 2009 in Blackpool, England.
The Performance is presented annually in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund (the EABF), whose patron is Her Majesty The Queen. Acts lined up to appear include: Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg, Canadian singer and Grammy Award winner Michael Buble, teen superstar Miley Cyrus, and many more.
Midler, a multi-award winning performer also from Hawaii, has followed her fellow islander's career and loves Jake's arrangement of "In My Life," a Beatles cover that appeared on Jake's 2008 release, My Life.
"I was shocked to hear that Bette Midler knew my music. I've been a huge fan of hers for many years," said Jake. "She's like a queen of entertainment. And to be performing with her for the Queen of England... it's a bit too much for me. I'm just so honored."
The performance will be Jake's first time to England and second time to Europe after touring earlier this year in Stockholm, Sweden, Pori, Finland, Nice & Paris, France, and San Sebastian,Spain.
Blackpool's legendary Opera House is the largest theatre in the UK outside of London with a seating capacity of 3000. The star-studded spectacle will take place on Monday, December 7 and be screened on ITV1, in the UK, later that month. It will be produced by ITV Studios, the makers of the 2007 Royal Variety Performance, which attracted an impressive 9 million viewers.
The money raised from this event will help to maintain Brinsworth House in Twickenham, Middlesex - the entertainers' retirement and nursing home which is run by the EABF.
See below for a very easy method to contribute to the Minnesota Food Shelves.

Kare 11 & Land O'Lakes are donating $1 for every person who clicks on their web site (each 24 hour period). Go to the website listed below and on the top right side of the screen there is the green area where it says: You Click, We donate . It's that easy. Please pass to all of your friends. I know that the food shelves are really hurting this year.
Only 60 hours to pre-register for HAMA. Pre-registration closes at midnight this Sunday, 11/22. I know that you want your very own "stinkin' BUTTON" to add to your collection or to start a new collection!
The hotel block closes at midnight tomorrow, Saturday, 11/21. Call the Ramada Northwest and make sure that you are speaking to the LOCAL crew to make your reservation. Be sure to mention St MinneSomePlace ParrotHeads!
Here are a couple of Clarifications regarding the election of the club Board of Directors:
1.
According to the election guidelines, those who want to run must nominate
themselves. For those of you who want to nominate someone, you just
need to nudge that person into nominating him/herself.
2. Administrative Staff Members as of 10/15 (a new administrative staff member is not eligible to vote for 60 days according to the club by-laws) will elect the Board per the election guidelines. This is the most important requirement of the Administrative Staff.
Again, if you have any questions or need further clarification, let me know.
PHINS UP!
