Oooops, didn't mean to send that, LOL. What I meant to say was, Gowan has improved enormously as a singer of these songs since the early days with Styx. Particularly as a harmony singer, in the beginning he was off quite a bit of the time. Now he blends better and he is in the chords instead of wavering just outside of true pitch. They have also dropped a lot of the songs he did not sing well like "Best of Times" and "Rockin' the Paradise" and focused on what he does better. All of this has improved his contribution to the band overall, in my opinion. In fact he is really kind of the star onstage now as far as presence goes. Tommy was sleepwalking last time I saw the band, I felt.
I hope all is well.

I was at the very first show with Gowan back in 1999 and Larry sang CSA & GI. he also sang Lady and BOT.

Things have changed I guess. I saw them several times right after the DDY split and they eschewed all "his" songs except Lorelei back then, and Paradise Theater, both of which JY co-wrote. Great performances, but it felt weird seeing them and not hearing GI, TBoT, and CSA.Mike DFrom: sterlingwit@ aol.comSent: Tuesday, July 07, 2009 9:28 AMSubject: Re: [Styxbook] Styx review at kweevak.comHmmm . . . interesting, I would think Gowan sang GI and JY sang Lorelei? That's how it usually goes.

I found it odd saying that the leaders traded off lead vocals on Grand Illusion and Loreli before the new guy did I am the Walrus. Maybe I read it wrong.

A bit of a whitewash on Dennis' departure but a very nice, enthusiastic review.
Best wishes,
