Blog back in May many of you chimed in with your input about
content/features you'd like to have on this year's DVDs.  The general
consensus was "more songs from our top groups on two separate (one
chorus, one quartet) dual-layer DVDs."  By now you've probably
noticed that IS what we are putting together for you...and they are
almost complete.  DVDs containing this much content requires a great
deal of licensing work...as many of you may recall from the delay on
the Denver Convention DVDs back in 2007.  While we are still waiting
on a few final contracts from copyright holders to allow us to use
certain songs for this year's DVDs, we anticipate wrapping those up
shortly.  We're still planning to have the DVDs shipped before
Christmas; the current estimated shipping date for the DVDs is
December 18.  If anything changes we will let you know.

The Quartet DVD features four songs from Crossroads, three songs from
each other medalist quartet, and two songs from quartets 6-20.  PLUS
bonus material!

2009 International Choruses (Dual Layer) DVD features two songs from
choruses finishing 1-10 (with one exception due to licensing) and one
song from choruses 11-29.  PLUS bonus material!

As required by action of the Barbershop Harmony
Society Board of Directors at its meeting on
October 31, 2009, Society President, Bill Biffle,
has appointed the following as members of the
Carolina District Transition Task Force:

Ralph Cordaro, member

Larry Deters, member

Dennis Evans, member

The task force is charged with executing an
orderly transition to two districts from the
present Dixie District, forming a Carolinas
District comprised of all chapters in North
Carolina and South Carolina, and re-forming the
Dixie District to be comprised of all chapters in
Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia, and
the portion of Arkansas presently located in the
Dixie District, with the transition to be
completed as soon as reasonably possible, but in
all events not to exceed 14 months from October 31, 2009.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in the Sunshine District!!  We wish
you all the joys of celebrating your blessings with family and loved ones!!
Since going full-time in music and ministry, we haven't had the opportunity
to attend either of the conventions this year, but we want you to know that
we miss you all and look forward to seeing you out and about as we perform
on your chapter shows around the state.  It's always great to see a familiar
face beaming at us in the crowd - barbershoppers are wonderful!  After doing
a show with the Canton Ohio Hall of Fame Chorus this past August, we were
shocked & delighted to see our own Bill & Jeannette Bernard
in the lobby - they were on vacation up there and added an extra few days to
their trip so they could surprise us!!

For those who've been asking where we're performing this Christmas, we'd
like to invite you to join us at one of our Christmas Shows in the venue
closest to you.  We'll be in Clearwater tomorrow afternoon (Sunday), in
Lakeland on Nov. 29th, performing on the Heart of Florida Chapter Christmas
Show in The Villages on Dec. 5th, in Brooksville on Dec. 7th, in Sarasota at
our 10th Anniversary Shows at the Sarasota Opera House on Dec. 11th & 12th,
in Palm Harbor on Dec. 18th, at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg on
Dec. 20th, and in Ft. Myers on the 22nd, in addition to several
closed-community events.

YOU ARE INVITED:  To audition for "Vokal Kombat", a chorus that will
represent the Sunshine District at the January Mid-Winter Youth
Chorus Contest in Tampa.

BONUS: Your registration and hotel for Mid-Winter will be paid for by
BHS if you participate in this chorus.

AUDITION DETAILS:
Date - Thursday evening, Dec. 3
Time - 7:00 P.M.
Place - Gaither High School
          16200 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.
          Tampa, Florida  33618
          Chorus Room - door opens to North Parking Lot - room will be marked.
Audition material - A portion of a barbershop song will be taught,
along with a visual performance plan.  Prospective members will be
auditioned in small groups, and selected based on vocal and visual skills.

FIRST REHEARSAL:
Date - Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13
Time - 2:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Place - Tampa (exact location to be confirmed)

FURTHER REHEARSALS:
Will be scheduled at the Dec. 13 rehearsal to accommodate as many
members' January schedules as possible.

MID-WINTER DATES:
January 29-30 weekend.  Top 5 Int'l. Quartets will be

New Seniors Dues Discount Rate Becomes Effective
January 1, 2010

A small change takes effect on January 1 that will change the dues
discount rate offered senior members in the future.  Current senior
members will not be affected by the change.

Eligibility criteria for the seniors dues discount remain the same: a
reduced rate is offered after a member has reached his seventieth
birthday and has accumulated a total of ten years of membership in
the Barbershop Harmony Society.

All members qualifying under these criteria before January 1, 2010
will be classified as "Seniors Legacy" (code SL on your membership
invoice)  and will continue to receive a 50% discount on BHS Dues.

Members qualifying on or after January 1, 2010 will be classified as
"Seniors" (code SN) and enjoy a 25% discount on BHS Dues.

Chapters and Districts may elect to set their dues according to these
criteria as they choose. Either way, they should affirmatively set
rates for each of these dues classes in the Chapter Dues Pricing
section of the ebiz.barbershop.org  website. Even if the rates will
be same for both classes, you will need to make an entry so that your
chapter's preferences are made clear.

Take the opportunity to review that all the dues rates set by your
chapter are properly listed.

Saturday, December 19 at 7:30 PM. The show will be held at the Lazzara Theatre
