I must understand from the disrespectful words of both Sarah-Michelle
and Mairzydotes that they either don't know the Ramones or they don't
appreciate them. Well, that's too bad. I'll just ignore your none sense
messages.
As for me, I can say the Ramones changed my life. And Joey Ramone did
it twice, as it was because of him that I found out about Helen Love,
the coolest
band on earth since the Kings of Queens (yes, the Ramones) came around.
I probably wouldn't think the way I do now (at 28) if I wouldn't have
discovered
and loved the Ramones. They changed the way I look at things. They were
the
biggest influence on me as a teenager, not only musically, but on every
aspect
of life. This might be a little hard to understand for somebody who
never
felt anything like this. Most people will mention their father, mother,
brother,
boy(girl)friend... when asked about who influenced them most. For me, it
was
the Ramones. I have no doubt about that.
They were fun, fast, pop, intelligent... They were 100%
pure teenage excitement, and they defined punk as we know it.
I heard the bad news monday morning, and I am still in shock. I can't
believe it.
It can't be true. There was a project for a Ramones movie, although they
had split
in 1996, and the classic line-up (Joey, Johnny, Dee-Dee and Marky) was
to
record a song for it. That'll never happen now.
Something in everyone who loved the band has died.
But we must cheer up, cause all the punks in punk heaven are now singing
their welcome song to Joey:
"Gabba, Gabba, We Accept You, One of Us, One of Us"
Thank you Joey for the music. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for
the good times. Your legacy will stay with us forever.
To Joey Ramone with infinite respect, in loving memory.
