The weekend started off with the Thursday dinner/quartet reception at
which we saw a nice retrospective for Natural High, who were
celebrating their tenth anniversary. You may remember them as the
quartet with mom and her twin daughters (and three different tenors).

Okay, this one cannot be just song titles. They came out in long black
capes with vampire teeth. After removing the teeth, they sang a parody
of "You Gotta Have Heart" as "We Gotta Have Dark." Then they turned
their backs on us and were fiddling for a bit, and they turned around
and dropped the capes, revealing various black evening wear with loads
and loads and LOADS of extra embellishments and tons and tons and TONS
of jewelry, and sang a parody of "Over the Rainbow" I called "Somewhat
Overindulgent." They were hilarious!
15. REUNION STREET

Houston Horizon Chorus
I Love to Sing that Old Barbershop Style; Over the Rainbow

I'm All Bound 'Round with the Mason Dixon Line; My Buddy
Several other notables... contestants 12 and 13 had the exact same red
outfit, which I am told they ordered from Coldwater Creek. It was
pretty and now they need to learn some eight-part stuff, even though
rehearsing will be hard since they live about 5-6 hours apart!
I am torn for my favorite outfit choice between Oasis, with a plum
colored pants outfit with one of those shiny, sequiny tops, and Flash!
- wearing a copper colored bustier with a sheer fitted blouse over it
and black "car wash pants." I mean, everybody looked great, but those
two stood out for me.
Becky, lead of Magic Mix and a member of the steering committee, was in
a terrible accident just a few weeks ago, so we were VERY happy to see
her singing up there with just her arm in a sling.
A wonderful tribute to Jackie Hall was presented by Vickie Dennis (her
"sis) and it included the establishment of the Region Ten HALL of Fame
(get it?) Award, with Jackie as the first recipient. A beautiful
plaque with appropriate engraving is being sent to Jackie's family, and
a large traveling plaque was started with her name at the top and room
for many more people to be recognized in the future.
