After a 40 minute intermission, I have returned with some caffeine in
my system. I hope it's enough to get me through the homestretch!

Quartet members are listed tenor, lead, bari, bass.

Key: Regional Champions (RC), Wild Cards (WC), Returning Qualifiers
(RQ), ## = queen; first region number listed is the one in which the
quartet qualified; @ means a member of SING who has outed herself

42...HeartBeat (#13) - WC
.....Eileen Laycock, Sonja Mejlaender, Patti Burklund, Dina Darrin
.....Pacific Sound, Olympia
This is the fourth quartet today with representatives from Pacific
Sound. Both P.S. and Verdugo Hills have that distinction this year.
Stage Attire: Black fringy flapper dresses.
Song #1: Laughing on the Outside. What beautiful dynamics. The
tenor posts at the tag and they finish with a beautiful soft ringing
chord.
Song #2: Alabama Jazzbo Band. They're showing off the fringe on
their dresses on this song. They're definitely a polished unit.
What fun interp. Sonja plays the roll of the drum and they get a
laugh from the audience. A very good quartet with lots of power.
Mmmmmmmmmm.

43...Millennium (#15, #19) - RC
.....Pat Dunphy@, Lynne Cefalo, Jo Lund, Laura Wonderlie
.....Metro Rhythm, Sound of New England
This quartet has Jo Lund (lead of City Lights) in a new voice part!
Stage Attire: Long sparkly dark gown with a bolero jacket.
Song #1: Flirty Eyes. They are having a ball with their interp. At
one point the object of their affection is simply too much to take
and they heave a heavy sigh. There is a lot of fun stuff happening
her both vocally and visually.
Song #2: Crying Myself to Sleep. Nice job. There is a lot of good
stuff happening with the quartet. Jo makes a good baritone, and
she's got three other solid performers with her!

44...Omni (#26) - RC
.....Lisa Hood@, Danna Tinney, Shayna Steeves, Adrianne Spring
.....Lions Gate, Westcoast Harmony
Stage Attire: Black pants and shell under a duster.
Song #1: Dixie-one Step. NO, YO leader man, gets a chuckle from the
audience. They're having fun up there.
Song #2: Secrets. This quartet has a new tenor since they won at
regional, and they've obviously been working really hard.

45...Brillante (#8) - WC
.....Vickie Maybury, Suzi Johnsen, Becky Maybury, Cheryl Suhr
.....Skyline, Velvet Hills
Stage Attire: Black long short sleeved jacket with frog closures.
Pants underneath.
Song #1: Sing Me That Song Once Again Dear. This is an arrangement
that I haven't heard before and they're doing a good job with it.
Vickie Maybury's daughter Becky is doing a bang-up job on baritone.
(She's a replacement in this multiple time competitor.)
Song #2: Cry Baby. The sarcasm is evident in this fun up-tune.
They end with a strong tag and get a good response from an
appreciative audience.

46...Society Rhythm (#5) - RC
.....Ann Keller, Barb Godwin, Jody Little, Jane Baines
.....River Blenders, Vermillion Valley, St. Louis Harmony
Stage Attire: Long black palazzo pants with panels makingthem look
like a skirt. Sparkly shirt.
Song #1: Cry Baby. The bass give the big cry baby a big L(oser)
sign and rolls her eyes. They give the Loser a big raspberry before
hitting tag. Fun presentation.
Song #2: Bundle of Old Love Letters. They're doing a fine job with
dynamics. They understand the message of the song and they're
conveying it.

47...Night Magic (#19) - RQ
Everyone is anxious to hear Night Magic with their new lead. This is
the third lead for this perennial finalist quartet.
.....Shirley Eckert, Sharon Ehrisman@, Renee Walsh@, Kathy Martin
.....Jersey Sound, Harbor City Music Company, Heart of Maryland
Stage Attire: Slinky black pants and a shell with a beautiful
sequined hip-length jacket.
Song #1: What'll I Do. Okay...they're still an awesome quartet.
Where do they find all these great leads?! A solid wall of sound.
One of the best balanced quartets I've heard today.
Song #2: You're in Wrong with the Right Baby. They make this look
so easy. They are back, and I have them solidly in the top ten.

48...Sound Bites (#31) - RC
.....Alyson Allan, Rosie Nelson, Michelle Walker, Laura Ritchie
.....Lace City Singers
Stage Attire: Navy blue dress with a chiffon skirt and a short
sleeved sequined bodice.
Song #1: Moment I Saw Your Eyes. What a nice job. They're singing
well and the audience appreciates their efforts.
Song #2: Here am I, Broken Hearted. Accents are perceptible, but
not overwhelming. I can't imagine what it's like trying to master
American vowels, but they're doing a fine job.

49...Razzcals (#12) - RQ
.....Dana Gibbs, Martha Segura, Cheri Jump, Chris Jette
.....Mission Valley, Sacramento Valley, Voice of the Valley
Stage Attire: Deep purple multi-layered skirt with an a-symmetrical
hemline on a tight bodiced sleeveless dress. They also have a scarf
around their necks.
Song #1: You Gotta Know How to Love/I Can't Give You Anything but
Love. Another solid performance from an A level quartet.
Song #2: Roses of Yesterday. Sorry. I was too mesmerized to write
anything. They secured themselves a top spot on the strength of this
ballad alone!

50...Symmetry (#10) - RQ
.....Janet Burnett, Janie Macchiaroli, Kellie White, Robbin Marlow@
.....Houston Horizon, Alamo Metro
This is funny. Not only do the Swedes and Canadians wave flags, now
we've got a bunch of lone-star flags out in the crowd. (Marti, Jane,
and Mary are eating this up!)
Stage Attire: Gold pants with a purple and gold jacket.
Song #1: Moment I Saw Your Eyes-Parody! The moment I saw my
thighs...we need jazzercize. Man, did the audience need this!
Song #2: Oh How I Miss You Tonight. Now that they have the audience
on their side, they impress us with their singing ability. This is a
solid quartet and is sure to score well today.
Thanks for the much needed laughs too you guys!

51...Motor City Mix (#2) - WC
.....Jeanne Lundberg, Nanette Wardin, Beth Gutowski, Jan White
.....Shoreline Sound, Fenton Lakes, Tri-City
Stage Attire: Long black gown with a white sequined bodice. Long
slit up the left leg.
Song #1: Jeepers Creepers/Them There Eyes. It's nice to hear a fun
medley we haven't heard yet today, and they are enjoying themselves.
Nice tag, ladies!
Song #2: Back In the Old Routine. I like the slow tempo they've
chosen for this song. It sets the melancholy mood nicely. Solid job.

Jane would like for me to point out that it is 10:09 p.m. and we've
been sitting here for about 11 hours. We've had a couple of breaks,
but that's ELEVEN HOURS! It's freezing in here (well, Marti's not
freezing, but we don't need to go into why) and our butts hurt!
There, I said it.

52...Swinglish Mix (#4, 9, 11, 32) - RQ
.....Eleanor Hawkins, Suzanne Harrington##, Patty Hawley, Naima Meyer##
.....CAL, Ronninge Show, Verdugo Hills, Spirit of the Gulf
Stage Attire: Long Navy gowns with differing neck lines.
Song #1: What'll I Do. These experienced performers know how to get
emotionally involved in a song. They have exquisite sustained softs.
You could hear a pin drop.
Song #2: Down Among the Sugar Cane. Well executed bell chord in the
middle of the song. They are a well oiled machine. Am I over my
limit for top ten quartets yet? I know I'm keeping a little list by
my side and knocking folks off as ever more impressive quartets come
out, but Swinglish Mix is about as sure a thing as there is.

53...Chord Company (#6) - RC
.....Ramberg, Heidi Dick, Linda Wetterlin, Jan Rick
.....City of Lakes
Stage Attire: Purple pants with a sparkly purple sweater set.
Song #1: Two Tickets/Sentimental Gentleman. This is the fifth
international for this quartet and they are singing really well. I
like their interpretation.
Song #2: All Dressed Up with a Broken Heart. Heidi's voice is well
suited to this emotional ballad. They don't have the booming sound
of some of the other quartets, but this is a solid, clean singing
group. They should be proud of this performance. It's one of the
best I've heard from them. Excellent job.

54...Swing Shift (#12) - RC
The crowd is dying to hear this quartet not just because THEY'RE THE
LAST ONE, but because they posted such an impressive regional score.
It was 637.
.....Patricia Glasser, Jeannette Rehrig, Leslie Dalton, Sharon Carlson
.....Pacific Empire, CAL
Stage Attire: Black pants suit with a gold shell. Gold trim on the collar.
Song #1: I Love that Barbershop Style. They establish a fun tempo
and man can they sing. What an impressive first time at bat!
Song #2: Used to Be a Ballpark. They have a full rich sound and
should score really well today. If don't know if they'll make the
cut, but they should be close. What a great new quartet.
