Hi to all, and please excuse the fan-out message. Wanted to pass along
pertinent information to get us through the rest of the week into next week.

Thanks!

Mary Ulrey
TJ Bands

1. Congrats to TJMC on a fine performance at the Massaponax site of the
Virginia Band and Orchestra Director's Association Marching Band Festival. The
group received a superior rating and straight I's in a great performance on a
beautiful fall day. It has been a very enjoyable and rewarding season. Thanks
to all who were able to be with us throughout the season as chaperones, pit crew
and cheer crew.

2. The TJMC banquet will be held at TJ on Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the school
cafeteria. Members and families should have received banquet flyers via email
(from Gretchen Straw), and there are extras in the band room. Due date:
November 10.

3. Photo info:

On Monday, Nov. 8, all CURRICULAR enesmbles (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz
Band, Sym. Wind Ensemble)will be photographed for the TJ yearbook during the
band class periods. Members of SWE and Jazz Band are expected to remember to
bring their uniforms (and shoes/black socks). Members of Concert Band and
Symphonic Band -- all have been fitted and we can provide uniforms for students
on that day -- ALL must be paid (info from Barbara Cackler to be returned to
school via your student or by mail) in order for uniforms to be available to
take home that day. Students need to bring black shoes and socks for the
pictures.

Also on Monday, Nov. 8 -- all TJMC members wishing to have an individual photo
taken in uniform (to go with the full group pix taken in August) will have an
opportunity on 11/8/04 from 4p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Lifetouch purchase option
packets will be distributed in TJMC rehearsal on Thursday this week.

4. TJMC: Friday night, Nov. 5 marks our last regular season home game, and
will be senior night. All senior TJMC parents are asked to meet at the far gate
(close to band seating) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in order to be recognized with
your student for their (and your) contributions to the program. You will not
pay admission to enter the game that night if you come to the far gate. Our
portion of the senior night recognition will begin at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Seniors will fill out a sheet in rehearsal on Thursday listing their escorts.
Please list exactly as you would like names announced.

5. Student staff meeting at lunch on Thursday (last 20 minutes)

6. And last but certainly not least, the trip to Orlando is on! We will be
distributing info packets within the next few days and asking for an earnest
money deposit for this special event. The dates of the trip (over Memorial Day
weekend) will be May 26-29, 2005. We are planning to fly to Orlando, take part
in the "MusicFest" competition, and enjoy a few days in Florida. We will be
staying in condos (much like the Myrtle Beach trip two years ago) and the trip
wil be open to all curricular ensembles as well as the Winter Drum Line and
Winterguard groups.

The integrity of the ensembles (musically) is always a factor on these trips
since the trip is certainly not mandatory. BUT -- it would be great to have an
appropriate and solid representation from each ensemble capable of presenting a
bonifide performance. Your deposit will be considered your commitment to go
with us, and we will begin preparations accordingly. More info will be
available in the packet/flyer to be distributed within the next few days.

Thanks to all for all you are doing to keep the band program and the fine arts
department alive and thriving at TJ. Happy Fall!

Sincerely,

Mary Ulrey
