Hey guys, this is Kenny (G...) if you didn't know already.
For those of you who don't know, Relay For Life is an American
Cancer Society fundraiser for continued research and improvement of
research. Basically, there's a Team Captain who makes a team of 20
or so people. This team finds a name for itself, and goes out and
fundraises for RFL. There are team meetings throughout the time
before the actualy relay takes place (sometime in April). Between
now and April, the teams will go and collect money/luminaria sales
for RFL. In April, the actual Relay For Life will take place at TJ.
Each team will walk around the track in shifts from one day to the
next day for a period of about 24 hours.
Jung Kim, the Team Captain Coordinator guy, is trying to get a bunch
of teams going from each different extra curricular activity. He
asked if I wanted to be a Team Captain for a team of marching band
people and maybe a few others. I have about seven people so far for
this team. If anyone would like to do Relay For Life or learn more
about it, please email me back at
goldfinger1306@... or find
my number on the intranet. I'm looking for about 15 more people, and
it can be anyone. Also, if you know of anyone who might want to
participate, tell them.
There's an 8th period meeting for RFL tomorrow B block. If you're at
all interested, it would be great if you went to learn more about
it. There's a team party thing where all the teams from TJ are going
to meet at Glory Days in Fairfax on February 3 (more info to come
when you sign up), so please get back to me ASAP, hopefully not
later than Wednesday of next week. The registration fee is $10 (cash
or check payable to American Cancer Society). Also, the Relay For
Life website is www.cancer.org/docroot/gi/gi_1.asp (if you put in
22302 to get Alexandria for the City Upcoming Events, it won't show
TJ, but don't worry).
Thanks,
Kenny
