LEARNING HOW TO FAIL by LISA MARR

Lisa Marr (you may know her as the lady from CUB,
BUCK, THE BEARDS, THE LISA MARR EXPERIMENT) has a
new dvd which "officially" comes out in
september, but it is now available from TQR&R and
directly from her! more about the dvd:

Lisa Marr was a disillusioned musician. After
riding the indie music wave as the singer/bass
player for Canadian cuddle-core darlings Cub, she
moved to Los Angeles seeking fortune and fame but
in the fall of 2003, things weren't going so
well. Her latest band, The Lisa Marr Experiment,
just had its American tour canceled and the
future seemed uncertain. Suddenly she had a lot
of time on her hands and a lot of confusion in
her head. So she grabbed a beat-up guitar and a
video camera and headed out alone across the US
in her '88 Toyota Corolla hatchback looking for
the answer to one simple question: What is the
definition of success?
Marr performed impromptu shows in public places
(tourist traps, truck stops, parks, laundromats,
street corners, shopping centers, bowling
alleysŠ), using her songs as conduits for
interactions with random passersby who took a
moment of their day to stop, look, listen and
enter into the ongoing discussion about the
meaning of success in America in the 21st century.
Learning How To Fail, Marr's first short feature
film, is a document of this journey.

The Birthday Machine has broken up.
This saddens us here at TQR&R, however, we were
able to convince the band to let us release a few
of their earlier recording in the name of
prosperity.

Packaged in a darling little double mini CD-r
set, you get five tracks and a QuickTime video of
Closet Superhero, a song from their first (and
only) 7".

Frankie & The S.E.M.M. is TQR&R's experimental/noise "house band".
This latest release offers two 74min discs, each featuring found sound.
One of the discs features all the tracks from the
now defunct psycho ex-girlfriend web site, and
the other disc utilizes the soundtrack from a
promotional medical 16mm film that's soundtrack
got totally f'd up during a conversion to dvd.
