One of the things I really enjoyed about the Girlyman concert was the younger
audience that
the group brought out. I hope they enoyed themselves and will show up at future
concerts.
And as a representative of the "more mature" attendees, I can report that
Girlyman
connected well with our age group too! I thought the second set was especially
good.
On the negative side, I thought the sound, especially of the opening act, was
really dry. I
was running sound, and I didn't have any luck "fattening it up" with reverb.
Because the
WPSU studio is acoustically "dead," feedback and other sound problems are
minimal, but it
lacks the warmth that a room with some natural reverb. Next time (Simple Gifts
Anniversary
Show Jan 13!) we'll spend as long as we need to try to "warm" the sonic
environment a bit.
