These are the true facts, told in greater detail than what I sent earlier,
as sent by Davy's Dream Web. Davy's Dream Web got these facts from Davy's
Daydreambelievers, which is the same place I had gotten them earlier. This
is in greater detail. As told by David Jones on 6 April:
These are the facts from Davy himself...
The idea of a "Teen Idols Concert Tour" was first instigated by Davy. He
had proposed the idea to Peter Noone over the years (after Davy and Peter
appeared together on a Teen Idols segment on the Oprah Winfrey show) and
the Summer of 1998 saw Davy and Davy's concept of a Teen Idols Concert Tour
became a reality.
From the beginning Davy proposed that the 3 stars interact with each other
on stage, taking the stage together at the beginning and reuniting for a
bow at the end of the show. In between, each would have the opportunity to
put together their own distinctive act.
According to Davy, although it was apparent that Peter Noone and Bobby
Sherman were not not able to work out a mutual agreement for the premise of
the show in which the three of them would interact, Davy decided to stay
with the Tour "to fulfill my commitment to the group". Davy also says "the
show did NOT work out the way it was supposed to, or the way the fans
wanted. The interaction between the 3 of us was the whole idea behind our
performing together. It was to be similar to the very successful
Fabian-Frankie Avalon-Bobby Rydell, Golden Boys of Bandstand Tour."
When it came time to book and renegotiate for this summer's Teen Idol Tour,
Davy says he "could not remain true to himself and continue with the same
show that was presented to the fans last summer." "I don't want to be
labelled as a one-dimensional artist... I want to give the fans more."
Davy's talents for staging a show are undeniable and he was faced with much
disappointments as Peter Noone and Bobby Sherman continued to be content to
do only isolated spots in the concert.
Davy says he "couldn't be happier" that Micky will be brought in to fill
the spot he will leave vacant on the Tour, and adds he "wishes the guys the
Best of Luck and continued success." (Note: If you have not already heard,
Monkee Micky Dolenz is to fill Davy's vacated Teen Idols Tour spot)
Davy says he will NOT be included in any of the upcoming Teen Idols shows,
not even those that have already been booked and confirmed, or dates for
which tickets are presently being sold. "My last Teen Idols concert was in
Miami on March 30", Davy confirms. Davy also reported that because of his
departure from the Teen Idols Tour "it will open up dates for some
additional solo shows", several of which are currently in negotiation.
Aside from Davy's touring, Davy says he has also been offered a syndicated
radio program called "Rock n Roll in the Movies" - which he would host.
This program covers the history of Rock n Roll as depicted in the movies.
Davy says he is currently review the script and considering the offer.
Davy also wanted to let everyone know, he also has plans to release a new
CD for distribution through Hercules Promotions, his mail order company.
The recording will include LIVE tacks from Davy's most recent tour of Japan.
And before closing Davy also expressed his appreciation to the fans, for
their "unending support and continued friendship".
All the above as told to Davy's Daydream Believers, April 6, 1999.
