A djembefola is one who gives the djembe voice.  In the hands of a master drummer, a drum comes alive.  It's voice sings, laughs, whispers, electrifies - Mohamed Diaby is such a player. Mohamed Diaby began playing the djembe at age seven, under the supervision of his elder brother Moustapha. By fifteen, Mohamed joined Africa Djole, led by Fode Yulla. Mohamed later joined Les Merveilles de Guinea as lead drummer, touring all over West Africa, including Sierra Leone. Kemoko Sano, Artistic Director of the world famous troupe Les Ballet Africains, requested Mohamed to join his troupe. Mohamed Diaby, Djebmefola
In April of 1995 Mohamed arrived in America to play at New York City's Symphony Space. Today, Mohamed travels around the world teaching drum and dance and performing.

I am looking to get some people together for a small but good drum circle.

Any kind of drums. Not just hand drums. I think it'd be best if it wasn't just a circle full of djembes, though.

I play the dhol and the Persian daf, so i have an instrument that is very loud and one that is not. Playing with some frame drummers or darbuka players would be awesome!

Please let me know if you are interested. I really don't like Last Concert and I don't want to join a local drum circle that is strictly African based!
