Buckwheat Morales Rides Again © 2004
Synopsis: A romp through the modern news world exposing that truth is stranger than fiction or Geraldo Rivera. Stops along the way include the manic offices of Latin NY Magazine in the seventies; WCBS TV Channel 2 in NY in the eighties; and a Telemundo outpost in the mountains of Yakima Washington run by an eccentric local businessman in the nineties. The real news is behind the scenes and the professional lunatics who bring you the days headlines.
The trio that brought Lola Magdalena to the Bonn Opera House in Germany is at it again in a new Boriconfessional play. Classical/jazz composer David Amram (whose music is featured on the "Manchurian Candidate" CD (release 9/04) starring Denzel Washington; he also scored the original film classic with Frank Sinatra), Nuyorican Playwright Luis Chaluisan (as El Extreme) and Lola Magdalena star Maria Hernandez team up again to deliver their slightly skewed look at life en las Anmericas.
The comedy musical is scored by the latinfunkpunk music sensation BETA VULGARIS out of Brooklyn New York and which features Adam Amram on percussion/drums.
Grammy nominee-Latin Jazz Drummer Bobby Sanabria gave the young band (which also boasts Brett Puchir on guitar: a former Sanabria seminar student) a "thumbs up" at their Nuyorican Poets Cafe debut in July.
The New Edge Cabaret Theater Production leaves on a fourteen city tour following the showcase performance at Pilgrim United Saturday night August 28 8:00 PM
COMEDIAN ERIK RIVERA DROPS IN TO OPEN THE NIGHT AT PILGRIM UNITED FROM THE COMEDY CELLAR WITH HIS BENT LOOK AT LIFE LIBERTY AND PURSUIT OF THE BIG ALCAPURIA
