Re: [TGC] Re: EVERY Chord and Scale for guitar- LITERALLY!!
Mister Deedge, you're too kind.
Just by the way, did I mention that there's a book that actually defines every chord and scale (within certain very sensible limits that the book spells out)? It's called The Scale-Chord Synopticon by Kathlyn Powell and John Fowler. You can find it on Amazon dot com. If you can grok that book, it becomes a small matter to transfer the information to guitar.

I was once on a gig where, during a fairly up-tempo song (I was seeing it for the first time) I encountered a chord , lasting only two bars that read: C (bb maj7) And while theoretically correct, the MD could have gotten a smoother performance by using the enharmonic ( Bb maj7).So who benifitted by this staunch adherence to theoretical correctness? No one. This was a GUITAR CHORD CHART....not a 17-stave score...and I personally feel the "speed bump" was nothing more than ego fodder for the author. So I must agree Doug..(or should I say Moses ?).Hopefully, now that yuo've parted the red sea,we can all pass through easily enough to enjoy the journey we all signed up for......learning music!!!! deedge >

I have a degree! If you stick a "whatever" root in there it will change the chord. Misnaming a chord IS bad communication! "Jim K." <jkernix@...> wrote:...
