W O W !!
It is soooooooooooo good to see positive exchanges!!
(hey Doug...who was that masked man ???? and BTW..I love the
phone book analogy!)
I came across the Joe Pass jazz chord book about 15 years
ago and got totally frustrated with the fact that none of the chord
diagrams were "named". It wasn't until about 2003 that I dusted it
off and approached it with a new frame of mind. His whole
intentention was to give you sounds, cadences, and melodic passages to
utilize at will..
Not being well-versed in theory, this "EAR - Intended"
approach suited me just fine.
As with any book,I gleaned a few turn-arounds from it
and use them often. It takes a few days to "hear" the transitions
automatically, but I found it worth the effort.
On another note,my new trio is performing in the Las
Vegas area.....( "Just 3 Guys" )if anyone is in the neighborhood
lemme know ........jam time is always just around the corner!!!
