When you say "center set" do you mean a set of two pick-ups
including the center,or the "center setting" of the middle pick-up
alone???

That's because someone installed bigger pickups in place of the
original Fender single-coil. Still, it's a great guitar.

Hmmm, sounds like bad pickups. I'm not the type to replace pickups, though. I love strats, though. Good luck with it. Which store in Allston? I live in Lowell....
