Yep,my 615 Taylor had the pre-amp wires in reverse on the jack....Yeah, I built a few tube & transistor radios when I was a kid. Stewart McDonald has lots of cool books on guitar repair. I also receive their tec-tip newsletter,"It's free".

1) Start by checking the leads from the pick-ups.
They should "match" (colors not reversed)
Sometimes,we reverse the middle p/u wires so that it cancells hum
when used in combination with another IE: neck/mid or mid/bridge
2) Make sure the switch /controls/output jack/and bridge are all
eventually connected to a common ground DIRECTLY.(that is..without
going "thru" another component)
