Due to the high demand we've been getting in the Northeast Oklahoma/ Southeast Kansas area we have decided to bring the show closer to home!(mine & Eddie's home at least!) I am super-stoked about this one! Texas Hippie Coalition will be playing at Short Creek Saloon in Caney, Kansas http://www.myspace.com/shortcreeksaloon along with very special guests and local heroes "Fist of Rage!" http://www.myspace.com/fistofrage1 I have had SO many people asking me when I was going to bring THC to the Bartlesville area and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where to do it. The problem is finally solved! Those of you that live near the Eastern Oklahoma/Kansas border that have never been to Short Creek, shame on you! It's a cool place! You should definitely go check it out sometime, like on Friday November 27th(the Friday after Thanksgiving! ) I know, I know, all your family will be in town. Well, bring'em! It's a huge venue! There will be lots of people coming from the Tulsa area as well due to the fact that our guitar player Eddie Bishop is from there. So put the turkey in the fridge, grab your favorite relatives and come get your self some THC!!!

Tickets are on sale now! Advance tickets are only $10.00 ($15.00 day of show). You can pick up your tickets at Short Creek on Saturday nights or the Gunny Sack in Caney any other time, or charge by phone at 620-879-2778.

Hippie Happenings

Wow, what a week! I drove straight in from Oklahoma City on Wednesday Oct 21st and played with Hell or High Water at the Solo Club and the minute we were done I was headed out on another three hour drive to Norman to meet THC so we could catch our plane to New York. We headed for the airport around 4am or so and caught our plane a little after 5am. Had a layover in Atlanta so we didn't get to New York till about Noon on Thursday. And as Luck(or lack there of) would have it, I lost my window seat on the layover :-(> I did get to see the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline on our approach to LaGuardia, but I sure didn't have a very good view. Still, it was breathtaking nonetheless. I was pretty tired after having played, and no sleep. Kinda funny, I had the song "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" in my head all morning! (and now you do, lol)

By the time we fought traffic in our shuttle heading to the hotel it was almost time to head-out again, this time to the venue, for sound-check. We barely had enough time to shower(actually Eddie didn't) before we were thrown right back into traffic again headed for Manhattan Island, I didn't really mind the traffic all that much just cause it was classic New York traffic and crazy cab driving just like in all the movies I had seen in the past and it was definitely a new experience for me, having never been to New York before. And the view of Manhattan from the interstate was a sight to see for sure.

We arrived at the venue and proceeded to check out the gear that had been provided for us. The guitar and bass rigs were top-notch and the drum kit was nice too. It was a DW kit and it sounded great. I had brought my own cymbals, sticks, and double bass pedals and once we got the go-ahead, I started switching everything out for our sound-check only to realize I had forgotten my china cymbal(yes Jerry it was my WUUUUUHAAANN! !) which is a very important part of my set-up with THC. I hooked my pedals up and we proceeded to check our levels and run through some material when "BAMM!" my pedals flew apart and bearings were flying all over the place! So there I was, stuck in New York City doing a showcase for prospective labels, distributors & sponsors with no china and no double bass! On top of that, Big Dad Ritch was still trying to shake the flu and wasn't feeling too good. Regardless, we tailored our set a bit to accommodate the unforeseen changes and ended up putting on a pretty decent show in spite of all that was working against us. It turned out to be a pretty great night in the end.

We had a lot of important contacts in the audience that night! Derek Shulman from DRT/Universal records, Phil from Curve/Sony-Red Records, TKO Booking, Jose' Mangin( http://www.xmradio. com/onxm/ channelbio. xmc?ch=42 ) from Sirius-XM Radio actually introduced us and the Jagermeister girls were there to see us and give out merch as well! I even ended up spending some time with a couple of good friends after the show that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Chris, Jerry, it was great seeing you guy's!

We barely got any sleep before we had to get back up(4am) and head for the airport to catch our plane ride home. The flight home was pretty uneventful. I tried to get a little rest but I just don't sleep well on planes for some reason. There were some storms brewing too which made for some rough spots and some wind sheer on the landing but wow it made for some pretty views above the clouds(one of these years I'll post pictures from all these adventures!) We got back to the airport in OKC and our battery was dead in the van which made for a cold wait. Kinda funny, we all packed warm clothes for New York and the weather was awesome there. We come home and freeze instead.

The minute we got back to Norman I was off on another adventure to Texas to have some fun on our few days of down time, but ended up getting ripped off in Dallas. I hate thieves!

Made it back to B'ville on Wednesday(Oct 28th) to play Solo and headed out the next morning to meet the guy's for another set of dates. The first was in Springfield, Missouri. We arrived just in time to load in. Got unloaded, Partially set up my kit, the guys back-lined the stage with their amps and we headed back to the hotel to rest and get cleaned up. In the meantime Big-Dad came down with some sort of stomach flu and we ended up having to cancel the show, so we headed back to the venue to tear down and load back up "in the rain" without having played a note. We were all pretty bummed about it but understanding as well. To make matters worse it was raining like Crazy and there was a leak above my hotel bed, luckily it was at the foot of the bed though.

Ritch got some rest and doctored himself up that night and we were off to play a show in Memphis, Tennessee the next day. Since we lost money by not playing the night before, we decided to try and save a little money and get a cheap hotel. Bad idea! The neighborhood was horrible. Now I know why they film "Cops" in Memphis! I kept waiting for the camera crew to show up lol, I could almost hear the theme song playing in the background. (Bad Boys Bad Boys, Whatcha Gonna Do, Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come For You!)

The first place we checked had barbed wire on the top of the fence like a prison and we might have been better off there. We stayed at a real dump, there were actually padlocked chains on the gate to keep the dealers out and signs that said in huge letters "NO DRUGS, NO DRUGS DEALERS(yes it was spelled that way:) and NO GUNS!" which didn't seem to do much good. Both my room and Ritch's room got walked in on by some crackhead. She acted like we were old friends or something, calling me "baby" I actually had to push her out and slam the door! The whole time she was saying "but, Baby, Baby, wait!" SLAM! I won't really elaborate on the language I was using ;-)> but it was followed up by me shaking my head in amazement, sighing and saying under my breath, "#%$&#@# crackheads!" And as if that weren't enough I got bit by bed bugs that night and still have whelps almost two weeks later to show for it.

The show went well considering half the city of Memphis was flooded from all the rain they had been getting. So it made for a smaller crowd than we've been used to, but it seemed like all the people that were there had driven a really long way to see us which made it all worth while. The place we played had a killer stage which has had some big acts on it for sure, one being Quiet Riot, just to name one. The only problem was the place had leaks, and the stench of mold was just too much so we played a little tiny stage in the bar room instead of the big room. I was bummed at first, but honestly we all had a great time being in such an intimate setting.

The next morning we were off to play the Choctaw Casino in Pocola, Oklahoma(right next to Ft. Smith, Arkansas). I personally didn't think we would have the turn out we had because it was Halloween night, And it was a dry casino(no alcohol) I just didn't expect much. But I was really surprised. There were quite a few people there and we had a good time. We ended up judging a $1000 costume contest that night to which there were some Awesome costumes! Top three for me were The Gatekeeper, he was awesome and a little intimidating standing at least 7ft tall with full-on movie make up. Second was "L-BDR"(Little Big Dad Ritch) too funny! He was complete with tattoo's and some of Ritch's stage moves! Hilarious! Third place for me was a dude dressed up as a mammogram machine. I have seen this done before but he really paid attention to detail and you could tell he spent some time on his costume. You could also tell he really wanted to save some boobies! lol Over all it was a pretty good night and we even got to play some songs we hadn't played in quite a while.

After the show a couple of us headed on over to Ft. Smith where the bars don't close till 5am! We saw some more killer costumes and witnessed another $1000 costume contest as well. I think my favorite moment was seeing a couple dudes dressed up as ZZ Top get spotted by the band, the band started playing some ZZ and the singer wasn't doing a very good job, so the ZZ Top dudes jump up on the stage, take the mic away from the band and proceeded to KILL IT! They were Awesome!!! Complete with the stage moves from the video's and all! Too Kewl! I had Horns High and was screaming to the top of my lungs in support of them! They stole the show! Literally! In my eyes they were pretty much famous after that and I Had to get a picture with them before we left!

Hippie Happenings

We arrived at the venue and proceeded to check out the gear that had been provided for us. The guitar and bass rigs were top-notch and the drum kit was nice too. It was a DW kit and it sounded great. I had brought my own cymbals, sticks, and double bass pedals and once we got the go-ahead, I started switching everything out for our sound-check only to realize I had forgotten my china cymbal(yes Jerry it was my WUUUUUHAAANN!!) which is a very important part of my set-up with THC. I hooked my pedals up and we proceeded to check our levels and run through some material when "BAMM!" my pedals flew apart and bearings were flying all over the place! So there I was, stuck in New York City doing a showcase for prospective labels, distributors & sponsors with no china and no double bass! On top of that, Big Dad Ritch was still trying to shake the flu and wasn't feeling too good. Regardless, we tailored our set a bit to accommodate the unforeseen changes and ended up putting on a pretty decent show in spite of all that was working against us. It turned out to be a pretty great night in the end.

We had a lot of important contacts in the audience that night! Derek Shulman from DRT/Universal records, Phil from Curve/Sony-Red Records, TKO Booking, Jose' Mangin( http://www.xmradio.com/onxm/channelbio.xmc?ch=42 ) from Sirius-XM Radio actually introduced us and the Jagermeister girls were there to see us and give out merch as well! I even ended up spending some time with a couple of good friends after the show that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Chris, Jerry, it was great seeing you guy's!

The minute we got back to Norman I was off on another adventure to Texas to have some fun on our few days of down time, but ended up getting ripped off in Dallas. I hate thieves!

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION COMING TO SHORT CREEK!!!

Due to the high demand we've been getting in the Northeast Oklahoma/ Southeast Kansas area we have decided to bring the show closer to home!(mine & Eddie's home at least!) I am super-stoked about this one! Texas Hippie Coalition will be playing at Short Creek in Caney, Kansas along with very special guests and local heroes "Fist of Rage!" I have had SO many people asking me when I was going to bring THC to the Bartlesville area and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where to do it. The problem is finally solved! Those of you that live near the Eastern Oklahoma/Kansas border that have never been to Short Creek, shame on you! It's a cool place! You should definitely go check it out sometime, like on Friday November 27th(the Friday after Thanksgiving! ) I know, I know, all your family will be in town. Well, bring'em! It's a huge venue! There will be lots of people coming from the Tulsa area as well due to the fact that our guitar player Eddie Bishop is from there. So put the turkey in the fridge, grab your favorite relatives and come get your self some THC!!!

Tickets are on sale now! Advance tickets are only $10.00 ($15.00 day of show). You can pick up your tickets at Short Creek on Sat. nights or the Gunny Sack in Caney any other time, or charge by phone at 620-879-2778.
