We want to take this time to remind everyone to do what they can for the survivors and those that perished in the Tsunami disaster in Asia, and all other disasters around the globe. The Carpenters is a group that came into its own in the seventies amidst the turbulence of that time. Along with other groups and singers, they stood out against the stark contrast of the "rock" generation.

The Carpenters unique sound survived many critics attacks and they became known as one of the best groups in music history. The group is comprised of Karen Carpenter, who is considered by many to be the best female singer of all time, and her brother and amazing pianist and arranger Richard Carpenter. Karen's "heaven sent" voice of clarity and love is an inspiration to many.

Her brother, Richard, the other member of the group, brought them into the Music Hall of Fame by introducing fantastic arrangements for songs and for having tremendous insight into which songs Karen's voice would sparkle on and become hits.

Furman Park is a public park near the Carpenters former home in Downey, California. This name was chosen because a "park" is a place where people gather for fun, relaxation and discussion. What better place and name to herald in yet another era of keeping Carpenters Fans together...
