Wow, things are hopping! I've been in Germany for the last twenty-four hours or so, and just got a FedEx of the master for the new record. It sounds great, and we're going into production in a week or so. There are a few last type things to fix up and Sheri and I are editing by email. Kenny and I are drafting an email announcement about the German tour - in German - for the German mailing list and Jen is waiting on that to send while coordinating the FedEx's and keeping everybody organized.
John Miles just sent me a screen shot of the main menu for the 'enhanced content' for the CD. There will be a music video for Miss You (bigger than online), MP3s of the original living room demos for all these songs, a piano & vocal only version of Chances and chord charts and performance notes for the songs, Spin, Look and Miss You.
At the last minute we decided to change the name of the record from Element to Spin, so don't let that confuse you!
Oh - and perhaps most relevantly, less than an hour ago I got a note from Kurt saying that the sales page has been updated and pre-orders are now available. The record will be out officially on November 19, but if you pre-order and we get it before then we'll pop it right in the mail to you. Until Halloween it will be running at the special pre-order price of $12 instead of $15. The pre-orders are a good deal financially, and also help us get the money together for the last expenses.
We'll let the rest of the mailing list know on Monday, but I wanted to give you folks on here the first news.
Thanks so much for your continued support. Y'all rock.

This is a bit of sneak preview for the few and the proud. ;-) We've just finished working on a little music video for one of the songs on the new record. The plan is to include it as "enhanced content" on the CD, and I'll put it up on the web site properly at some point, but for now if you want to check it out, you can go here:
http://www.davidlamotte.com/MPEG/MissYouSM.mov
This is the only way to see it for now, it's not listed anywhere on the site.
Thanks for sticking with me all these years. I hope you'll like the new record!

LOL! I totally agree! :) If I can convince my Wednesday night church
group (I teach) to travel to Eddie's Attic for the release party I'll
go there too, even with the added distance. LOL, maybe I"ll call
LaGrange college and offer to pick up the guitar players on the way,

50 miles? Is that all? :P
About three Evening Muse concerts ago (the place David
performs in Charlotte) he had also played Grey Eagle
the night befor (i think). And about 3 or 4 of my
friends who had gone to that one followed drove down
to Charlotte for the next one. More than 100
miles...Theyd probably do it again if there was
another Charlotte (or any other 'nearby places')
concert and theres nothin better to do. Only so much
trouble to get into in CulloWHEE

I drove 49.2 miles to a small, private college's free concert last
night ... and the students thought I was nuts ;) "You drove from
*Columbus*!?" they said. LOL! Well of course! (Hey, if I were in
England ... well, I wouldn't be able to afford the gas, ha ha)
I asked folks if they had heard David before and was informed they
were there because they play guitar. They didn't sound to sure it
would be good... but by the break, I overheard several comments
of "he *is* pretty good." LOL! :) (And I notice most stayed after
the break, and some new folks wandered in.)
Around 1000 students at this college, so a crowd of over 50 was
great! Incredible new student center, very fancy room with 15-20 of
those large candles plus back lighting only, and comfy arm chairs and
couches! Wow! (and no, I didn't see any napping going on ;) )
The faculty member & his wife I talked with seemed less surprised
about the drive, they said they'd heard of David and had considered
driving to Atlanta before to hear him but hadn't been able to yet.
And why would I drive 50 miles (or much more) to see David? Not just
because I like his music, I like a lot of music. What makes him
different? All I can think of is that David makes a personal
connection. I was shocked the first time I posted a msg on this
group and got a personal response from him. Last night he asked me
how I was ... and I was stumped again! LOL! You just don't
generally get that genuine an inquiry from even people you see
daily.
So I know he isn't keeping roll (or maybe he is ... David, you
checking off who makes it to local concerts? Ha ha!)... but because
of that personal connection, I felt like I'd be letting a friend down
if I didn't go. When my best friend flies in from Newark, of course
I drive two hours to meet her back home... it really doesn't seem
much different.
And I finally bought Good Tar ... I wish the trip home had been twice
as long so I could have listened to more! LOL! I buy maybe 1 or 2
cd's a year, if that many ... so buying a two cd set was quite a big
thing ;) I'll be wearing these thin before long :)
Anyway, great music as always, so thanks again David!
Terri
Anyone else on here planning to be at LaGrange College tomorrow
night? I can't wait!
I didn't even notice it last time I checked the schedule ... so glad
for those reminder emails!
I've been madly emailing folks about it, but no takers yet. So if
you're going and would like to catch dinner or something as a group,
feel free to email me :)

Hey Will,
Thanks for joining the group, for your question and for remembering
that show all these years later! I'm guessing the guy you're talking
about is Todd Mahaffey. Todd is a brilliant player. Very melodic, as
you say. He's never done much road time, as he likes living in
Montreat and actually *being* there, but he's been playing pretty
steadily in the area for a lot of years. Lately he's playing in a
Beatles cover band called the Faux Four with Chris Blair, David Cohen
(who plays percussion on my early records Flying and In the Light) and
A.D. Anderson. They're a ball. Todd may be hard to find, but if you
want to track him down for any reason I'm happy to help.
In other news, I'm in the studio in Asheville this week doing some
guitar and vocal tracks while the folks in Tacoma WA are working
simultaneously tracking drums and bass for the record. I'll fly out
there on Monday to work some more on that end of it, and Chris Rosser
will fly out on Wednesday so that he and Evan Brubaker and I can mix
it all down. We've got a ton of work to do, and I'm not entirely sure
it's possible in the time allotted, but we're going to give it a shot!
Thanks for your enthusiasm! I appreciate the encouraging notes about
that, not to mention the celebration of my engagement, which continues
to be the biggest and best news in my life these days.
Peace,
David

Hello,
I heard David playing about 7 years ago down at Montreat College,
during the Presbyterian youth conference. He had an acoustic soloist
with him that was awesome. I've always wanted to learn to play like
that guy--he had a very melodic solo style. Does anyone have any
idea who he might have been, or know of a similar player? I would
love to get any kind of instruction material to help, or contact info
or anything.
Thanks,

Hey y'all,
We'll announce this to the whole email list next week, but I wanted to
clue you in first. We've launched a whole new big web site. I'm
pretty tickled with it. There are a couple of areas that are not
entirely complete (the links page still needs work and some of the old

There's a lot of new stuff, including MPEG video and some PDF
downloads of song lyrics with chords, etc.
Be sure to pop in to the guest book and scribble a word or two when

I'm in Tacoma, WA working on the new record, and it's going really
well. Hoping to put it out in November. Good fun.
Oh - and I got engaged a couple of weeks ago. ;-)

Best thing is to call, since that way you can make sure you get the one you want in your size in your color!
Call the office (toll-free) at 1-877-357-8833 during something like business hours on the East Coast. And hurry -- no kidding, we'll likely start running out of sizes -- these things are great.
Like the bumper stickers: "Sing Loud! ...it's a big world" and "God bless the people of every nation"
It's good to be back in the loop for a bit. See you guys at shows, I hope!

Well, I got my new t-shirts of David's yesterday in the mail, and you
weren't kidding, David ~ they are SOFT!!! And yes, they are larger
than typical sizes. I ordered X-large because of my increasing beer
belly (without the beer. Just age I guess), and I'm swimming in it!
But rather be roomy than too tight, but like David said, whatever you
usually order, order a size smaller.
Great messages on them, David! Thanks! I've got your bumper
stickers with the same sayings on my van as well!
Peace to all!

Happy first day of summer, everyone! For those of you back east, I know you're especially longing for the days of summer past when the sun baked your skin as you lay by the pool side, or out on the beach, instead of being continually drenched and covered in clouds. For me, summer is a time of unions, as it seemed most of the weddings I attended were during this season. So for those of you who've been married half a lifetime, or have just been with someone long enough to feel comfortable enough to be irritating, when you feel like being cranky because the weather isn't cooperating, take a moment to smile, and remember what you mean to each other... and let your partner know they still mean the world to you.
We got things worked out so there should be no more inappropriate content on this discussion group. We've accepted the three kind offers to help moderate the list, so there shouldn't be much delay, but there also shouldn't be anything offensive going through. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
In other exciting news...
The new t-shirts are in and you're the first to know! They look great, and are amazingly soft. No kidding. Also, they're printed on organic cotton and sewed in worker-owned cooperatives, so there's no sweatshop labor. There are two designs, each of which come in two colors...
God Bless the People of Every Nation - Purple or Black
Sing Loud! ...it's a big world - Plum or Green
Sizes: Small through Double-Extra Large (and they tend to run fairly large, so if you're wavering, for instance, between M and L, go with M!)
The best way to order them is to call the office during office hours - 1-800-995-6825. Woo-hoo!!
...and speaking of the office, some sadder news too. Rachel Huehls, who has been running the office for nearly two years, has decided to move on to another job. She's been invaluable and I'm sorry to see her go.
...and I'm hiring! More on that later. If you want to send notes wishing her well, though, she's at booking@...
Thanks again for your ongoing support and kindness,
