Dear ABS Member,
I am writing to invite you to attend the Biennial Meeting of the American Bach Society which will take place in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania from Thursday, May 8 through Sunday, May 11, 2008. Eminent Bach scholar Don O. Franklin will deliver the keynote address on the theme of the conference: “Bach and the Oratorio Tradition.” The meeting will also include four paper sessions, a roundtable discussion on “21st-Century Approaches to Bach’s Music,” a reception and a banquet. The conference coincides with the 101st Bethlehem Bach Festival which will feature performances of the B-minor Mass, the Easter and Ascension Oratorios, the “Trauer Ode,” and Cantata 74. Details of the conference program, the registration form, and information on lodging are now available on the Society’s Web site: www.americanbachsociety.org. Please note that, due to the high demand for tickets for the Bethlehem Bach Festival, the deadline for early registration for the ABS meeting is Friday, February 1.
I look forward to seeing you in May.
