Dear Friends of Johann Sebastian Bach,
I would like to inform you about a special project: a Johann Sebastian Bach
Festival in Brussels from October 27th till November 4th 2005.
This Festival will be organized by the European Federation for Choirs of the
Union in collaboration with two Belgian choirs:
- Les Pastouraux from Waterloo (Bernard Pagnier)
- Schola Cantorum Cantate Domino from Alost (Aalst) (Michaël Ghijs)
We want to invite the most important boys' choirs from the Continent and
bring the compositions in their authentic style (vocally as well as
instrumentally).
The special purposes of this Festival will be communicated later.
I can already give you the names of the selected choirs:
- Germany : Windsbacher Knabenchor (Karl-Friedrich Beringer)
- Germany : Dresdner Kreuzchor (Roderich Kreile)
- Latvia: Riga Dome Boys Choir (Martins Klisans)
- Great Britain : New College Choir Oxford (Edward Higginbottom)
- France : Les Petits Chanteurs de Lyon (Jean-François Duchamp)
- Spain/Catalonia : Escolania de Montserrat (Joaquim Piqué)
It is the intention to highlight the importance of boys' choirs and to bring
their beautiful work on the forefront.
As apotheosis there will be a Gala Concert at the Antwerp Sportpaleis where
special techniques/effects will be used to make a large public enthusiastic
about the work of the great Cantor.
We are available for further information.
Yours sincerely,
Jean-Pierre van Avermaet
EFCU/FÉCU Secretary-General
