I am in need of two more volunteers to blind read scholarship applications. The reading will be at my house on Tuesday night, May 18th at 7:00 p.m. It shouldn't take too long, we should wrap up about 8:30. If you have any questions, just e-mail or call. It is a great opportunity to get an early look at what it takes to submit a quality application for your students graduating in the coming years. The winners will be announced at the Senior Dinner, May 24th.

Mary,
Kevin will also bar-b-que and I will be there early to set up the decorations. I will bring the usual ballons and helium and of course the flowers that we put together tonight. I will help at the raffle/shirt table or anywhere else you put me.
OK. So maybe it's a good thing Nancy Glenn will be secretary soon, because sometimes the formatting comes through the way I designed it and sometimes it doesn't. How about this?
Volunteers to date
Barbeque and early food prep: Eric Ross & friends, Kevin Stokes, Joe Cushnyer, Susan Lippert (4:00 food prep)
Service 5:00 - 5:45 (10 Needed): Suzanne Beard, Joe and Teresa Cushnyer, Nancy Glenn
All last minute preparations have been made and Thursday evening will be here before we know it. We need about 30 people to help prepare, serve and cleanup on Thursday evening. We will fire up the grill at about 3:00 p.m. and we have several volunteers for cooks. We are mostly in need of servers and cleanup after the event. Many of you have said that you would be there and do whatever is needed. Because we want to make sure that each family has the opportunity to eat together at some point in the evening, it would help if you would reply and indicate which shift you would prefer to work.
Last year we had 2 service tables with 4-5 servers at each table. Please review the schedule below and let us know where and what time you can help out.

Hi Mary,

I misspoke...this would be the JAZZ Band...my son corrected me. Any questions about helping out with the Jazz Band basket, please feel free to call me.
I will volunteer to put together the Summer BBQ basket on behalf of the Pep Band unless you have someone who is already doing that. Please confirm that you would like for me to take care of that basket.
Pep Band parents, you may help by contributing $$ to help in the cost. Could I suggest a donation of $10? Have your student give the money to Brad school tomorrow or at Jazz Band practice.

Last Minute, Easy, Fundraising Opportunity for Spring Fling
We would like to raffle off 4 - 5 gourmet goody baskets at Spring Fling and are asking for some quick donations from your pantry or one of those last minutes trips to the store this week. Two baskets are already complete, so getting 2-3 more shouldn't be much of a challenge by Wednesday evening
Mary Powelson put together a fun and festive Movie Night basket with movies from the Rummage Sale and other treats which should be very popular. Also, The Colorguard is well on it's way to an Evening of Bubbles complete with candles, snacks, wine glasses and a brunch gift certificate.
It's time for the Jazz Band, Drumline, Red and Gold Ensembles to step up to the challenge!
Please come Tues night with Greg, that would be great, Stacey can you come Wed? Thanks, times are 5:00 to about 7:30-7:45. You might come a tad early to set up. Mr. Kelley sets up the TV and video, I have a box in his office near the copier in the back that has all the Talons stuff. I will show up for a few minutes on Tues and Wed to make sure you have everything. Me and Nancy had fun tonight. Not too busy, but it allowed us to answer alot of questions. Thanks everyone!!! Stacey, Mr. Kelley will not be there on Wed, but it trying to get another staff member to get the tv out for you.
p.s. Mary, I made a really cool board with some of your pics and displayed it. Very cool!!! It is in the band room.
We got quite a few names tonight from Freshman Orientation. It looks like Mr. Kelly may have a bumper crop of freshmen this year for band and color guard. Thank you!!!! to everyone that showed up in their red shirts, we were a noticeable group!! The Jazz Band was great and was enjoyed by everyone. I do, however, need more parents to sign up for three Freshmen registration nights. Please let me know if you can sign up for one night. We need a minimum of three parents to answer questions, help fill out Escrip forms and pass out pamphlets. Let me know if you can take a spot. I have a few openings on all nights. The registration starts at 5:00 pm and goes until 8 to 8:30.
Each year the Talons presents three $500.00 scholarships to senior band/color guard students. The recipients are announced at the senior dinner which is on May 24th this year. I left several applications on the shelf near Mr. Kelly's office last night but have also attached the file to this e-mail in case you would like to print the application yourself.
Please have your student turn the completed application and both references (sealed in envelopes) in to Mrs. Gamboa in the Career Center by May 14th.
If you have any questions, feel free to call or e-mail me.
