Just a friendly reminder that Mother's day is fast approaching.....Sunday, May 11th to be exact and I have plenty of Scrip on hand to make your Mother's day shopping convenient. I will be selling Scrip at the Talons meeting on Monday night, May 5th starting at 6:30 p.m. and throughout the meeting and on Tuesday, May 6th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
And don't forget.....we have Scrip for Graduation, Father's day, birthdays, home improvement projects, and for your everyday purchases such as groceries, gas and
prescriptions. Remember ... this is an important year round fundraiser for the band and for your student. 50% of the profit will go into your student's account and 50% into the general band fund. It's not too late start saving for next years band fees.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at Retd2quilt@... and remember to type Scrip in the subject line.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Allen

Today your band, color guard, or percussion child should have brought
home ten (10) steak dinner tickets to sell. Spring
Fling is our LAST fundraiser of the year. For only
$12.50 per person you and your friends, family, neighbors, associates,
etc. can enjoy an 8oz. New York Steak, beans, salad, roll, and dessert
along with a lovely concert on the green. In addition, this year we
are offering a child's plate for children 10 and under for only $5.
The child's dinner will be a hot dog rather than steak. Those tickets
will be available upon request and at the door; they were not sent home
with your child. While we know the economy is tight we ask that you
try very hard to sell all 10 tickets. If each of the 80 students sold
their 10 tickets and turned in their $125 then the booster club would
take in receipts of $10,000 minus expenses. That adds up to another
replacement piece of equipment or a bus trip or two for next season.
Spring Fling is Tuesday, May 13th and we do ask that if you have some
time to offer we will need assistance with barbecuing and serving food
and with clean up. We'll have one kitchen staff and a custodian but
the more we do the less we pay them. All of the Talons board members
will be on hand that night to assist with cooking and serving but we
still will need more help.
Once again, thank you for your support.

Good morning Talons,
We are currently in need of someone who is willing to be the Talons
treasurer for 2008-2009. Unfortunately, Bill Shipp's daughter will not
be in band next year due to scheduling conflicts therefore he is unable
to accept the nomination. This is a key position and we must find
someone prior to the May 5th Talons meeting. Please remember that the
majority of the current board members have graduating seniors and will
not be returning next year.
Thank you,
Talons Board
Right approach is that, first research about degree and than get one.

Talons,
A huge thank you to all who helped make today's event a success!
Especially:
Cindi Mundschau for taking care of finances
Debby Moore and Lisa Witthans--Snack Bar
Jeanne Allen and Beth Lenau--Flowers and Air Grams
Rhonda Smith and Angela Genter--Hospitality (the best in three counties!)
Jennifer Slaughter and Alysia Campos--group check in
All the Talons who helped all day
The band/colorguard/percussion kids who worked with smiling faces
The Barbeque Boys for keeping us well fed ALL day long
and finally....
Carlos Campos for being well organized, having the kids well organized
and for spending an hour on the phone to get the snack bar unlocked
because some redheaded ditz (me) locked her purse in there!
You guys are awesome!
Teresa

If your child is like mine you haven't received the hospitality
reminder that was sent home. So here is the rundown:
Woodwinds, Color Guard: Main dish or cold cuts/cheeses/breads
Brass: Side dish or salad
Percussion: Dessert
If you bring a hot dish please provide a way to keep it warm
(crockpot). Also, Rhonda and Angela will need ice chests and crockpots
tomorrow. All food donations should be taken to Room 1101 (across from
the gym) in the morning. Store bought items are gladly accepted.

Talons,
If we do not have enough workers for Saturday we are going to have major
problems running a smooth event. We are in danger of losing the good
reputation that we are famous for. Please examine your schedules and
give us 2-3 hours of your time. Your children are depending on you.
Also, we need helpers Friday at 4 p.m. in the band room to assist with
set up for Saturday. In addition, your children are required to work a
shift on Saturday.

Talons, We still have a number of openings for workers on Saturday. If you can spare two hours out of your day it will be greatly appreciated. The yellow indicates an area of need. Teresa

Hello again Talons,
Your student should be bringing home a flyer letting you know what to
donate for the hospitality suite on Saturday. We are known for having
one of the best hospitality suites around so lets keep that image
going! Also, we can still use water donations and it's imperative that
we have enough workers Saturday. It takes ALL of us to make this
organization successful.
Teresa
Talons,
Please offer your prayers, kind thoughts, etc. for Aida and Bill
Rodriguez. Bill has been the driver of "Big Red" for at least 10
years. He IS a true Talon and treats your children as if they were his
own. Unlike other groups drivers, Bill and Aida help us load and unload
big red, they sit in the stands and cheer on our kids, and they are
genuinely fantastic people. Aida is currently battling cancer and I
know they will appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We have sent a
plant with the "Talons" best wishes for a speedy recovery. (Thank you Liz)
