It is right now exactly 44 years ago the 'Vators spaceship left the launchpad.
Remember that only 20 years had elapsed between old folks music like western swing and the 'Vators psychedelic mission. It is, in this age of corporate hoovering and recycling, pretty darn bizarre that it took so long before a band of the Elevators stature got this box out. On the other hand, some stuff out there (like a box on western Texas swing I bought years ago) really suck.
Sign of the 3 Eyed Men is the most unsucky (hey, I can mangle the language of the immortal bard anyway I see fit-this is the net!) box I've ever heard or seen. If aural astronomist Drummond decides to do a vinyl version I'll probably have to have that one too. I even think the mono PS sounds BETTER than my original! And all the bonus stuff, of which I only had about half, is like completely new discoveries when compared to muddy muffled thingamajigs like Demos Everywhere, Fire in Bones ,Avalon etc aso...
This is going to launch a zillion new heads all over. And an offical re-write of the history of psychedelia by inane dimwits working at Pitchfork, Mojo and Rolling Stone. Luckily, we already knew.
From now on I demand that we refer to Paul Drummond as PROFESSOR.

If only Professor Drummond had been there to salvage Smile before Brian got out of bed and messed that up.

I'm calling Fielding for third eye trepan instructions this summer!
