Tim McGraw To Headline 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Concert

New York, NY (November 19, 2003) - Academy Award winners Michael
Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will host the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize
Concert on December 11th in Oslo, Norway, in honor of 2003 Nobel
Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi. Grammy Award winner Tim McGraw will
headline the show, which will also feature acknowledgements from
former US President and 2002 Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter
and other notable figures, to be announced.

The Nobel Peace Prize is the most prestigious award in the world.
Shirin Ebadi, the female Iranian human rights activist, will be
presented with her award on December 10th in Oslo. For the past
decade, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony has been followed the next day
by the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which is broadcast to over 150
countries and more than 450 million households around the world. In
the United States, the Concert will premiere on A&E Network on
Sunday, December 21st, 6-8 pm ET/PT. A&E Network has a rich tradition
of broadcasting a wide range of popular music series and specials,
including the award-winning "A&E's Live By Request" and last year's
Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The Concert has received worldwide fame
and the participation of A-list celebrity hosts and performers.

Tim McGraw will headline this year's concert. McGraw recently
released his eighth album, Tim McGraw and the Dance Hall Doctors, a
15-song collection that was accompanied by a NBC network special and
a book published by Simon & Schuster. Widely regarded as one of
country music's most popular and respected performers, McGraw has
sold over 27 million albums, had 21 number one singles and six multi-
platinum albums. In 2003, he picked up his fourth straight win at the
American Music Awards for Favorite Male Country Artist. He was also
nominated for Favorite Country Album and Fans' Choice Award at the
American Music Awards, and for Male, Album and Entertainer at the
Country Music Association Awards.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will join the ranks of
Jessica Lange and Anthony Hopkins, and Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson,
who hosted the Concert in 2002 and 2001, respectively. Producer and
actor Michael Douglas has been involved in such critical and
commercial successes as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (Academy
Award, Best Picture of the Year, Producer), "The China
Syndrome," "Wall Street" (Academy Award, Best Actor), "The American
President," "Traffic" and "Wonder Boys," for which he was nominated
for a Golden Globe. In 2002, Douglas played a guest role on the hit
NBC comedy "Will & Grace," and received an Emmy nomination for his
performance. In 1998, Secretary General Kofi Annan named Douglas a
Messenger of Peace for the United Nations. His two areas of
concentration are nuclear abolition and small arms proliferation. In
that same year, he formed his own production company, Furthur Films.
At this year's Golden Globe Awards, Douglas will receive the Cecil B.
DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press for his "outstanding
contribution to the entertainment field."

Catherine Zeta-Jones recently won the Academy Award for "Best
Supporting Actress" for her role as Velma Kelly in "Chicago." For the
same performance, she was nominated for a Golden Globe and took home
the SAG Award for "Best Supporting Actress." Zeta-Jones earned
another Golden Globe nomination for her role as the wife of a drug
runner in the critically praised film "Traffic." Zeta-Jones also
starred in blockbusters including "America's Sweethearts," "The Mask
of Zorro" and "Entrapment." Her most recent project is starring
opposite George Clooney in "Intolerable Cruelty."

Past Nobel Peace Prize Concert performers have been equally
noteworthy, including Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson,
Elton John, Tina Turner, Sting, Phil Collins, Alanis Morissette,
Sinead O'Connor, Natalie Cole, Moby, Shania Twain, Josh Groban,
Michelle Branch and Wyclef Jean. The Concert has a unique and
successful tradition of blending musical genres, from pop to rock to
classical and world music. All artists have the 60-piece Norwegian
Radio Orchestra, conducted by Martin Yates, at their disposal for
their performances.

Among those in attendance to watch the Concert live are the Norwegian
Royal Family, government and political VIPs and a public audience of
approximately 5,000 people. Tickets to the event sold out in record
time.

Select world leaders congratulating the new Laureate in videotaped
announcements join the hosts, performers and guests each year. In the
past, these have included Nobel Peace Laureates Aung San Suu Kyi of
Burma, Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, David Trimble and John
Hume of Northern Ireland, UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, Nelson
Mandela of South Africa, Mikhail Gorbachev of Russia and world
leaders such as former US President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister
Tony Blair of Great Britain. So far this year, former US President
and 2002 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jimmy Carter has committed to a
congratulatory message as well as Nobel Peace Laureate, Jody
Williams, of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

Shirin Ebadi is the first Muslim woman and the 11th woman overall to
be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize since its inception in 1901. The
Norwegian Nobel Committee honored Ebadi for her work on behalf of
democracy and human rights, which have specifically concentrated on
the rights of women and children. The 56-year-old Ebadi received her
law degree from the University of Tehran. For four years, she served
as president of the city court of Tehran. One of Iran's first female
judges, Ebadi was forced to step down after the Islamic Revolution.
She is the founder and leader of the Association for Support of
Children's Rights in Iran. She is also the author of a number of
books on human rights. She is currently practicing law and teaching
at the University of Tehran.
