Tim McGraw Music Featured on Kid's Country Hits CD Benefiting NBC
Today Show Toy Drive
NASHVILLE - December 1, 2003 - Out of the mouths of babes comes a
slew of great country songs. Kid's Country Hits: 20 Chart Topping
Hits For Cool Kids is the first country album by and for kids. A
cheery group of young singers belt out favorites like Alan
Jackson's "Little Bitty," Tim McGraw's "I Like It, I Love It," and
the Dixie Chicks' "Long Time Gone." Keith Urban even jumps in to play
guitar on their rendition of his mega-hit "Somebody Like You."
With the holidays fast approaching, Capitol Records Nashville is
sharing the joy of Kid's Country Hits by participating in the NBC
Today Show's toy drive, which will distribute gifts to children's
charities across the country. A games page pegged to the album is
also available on many country radio station websites.
Young country fans - along with their Moms and Dads - can sing along
with these hits in the car, at home or anytime the family gets
together for fun. Producer Darrell Brown brought in some of the
musicians and singers who worked on the original recordings of the
songs, ensuring the best musical quality.
Released last week, the album debuted at #41 on Soundscan's
Children's Current music chart. .

>You will be happy that you read this all the way through. >As you got up this morning, I watched you, and hoped you would talk to me, >even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for >something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were >too busy, trying to find the right outfit to wear. When you ran around the >house getting ready, I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and >say hello, but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait, fifteen >minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to >your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me, but you ran to the phone and >called a friend to get the latest gossip instead. I watched patiently all >day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything >to me. >I noticed that before lunch you looked around, may be you felt embarrassed >to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head. You glanced three or >four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly >before they ate, but you didn't. That's okay. There is still more time left, >and I hope that you will talk to me yet. You went home and it seems as if >you had lots of things to do. After a few of them were done, you turned on >the TV. I don't know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there >and you spend lot of time each day in front of it not thinking about >anything, just enjoying the show. I waited patiently again as you watched >the TV and ate your meal, but again you didn't talk to me. >Bedtime I guess you felt too tired. After you said good night to your family >you popped into bed and fell asleep in no time. That's okay because you may >not realize that I am always there for you. I've got patience, more than you >will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as >well. >I love you so much that I wait everyday for a nod, prayer or thought or a >thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation. >Well, you are getting up once again. And once again I will wait, with >nothing but love for you. Hoping that today you will give me some time. Have >a nice day! >Your friend, ALLAH >PS - Do you have enough time to send this to another person? >If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions. >Not ashamed? Tim McGraw To Headline 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Concert
New York, NY (November 19, 2003) - Academy Award winners Michael
Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will host the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize
Concert on December 11th in Oslo, Norway, in honor of 2003 Nobel
Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi. Grammy Award winner Tim McGraw will
headline the show, which will also feature acknowledgements from
former US President and 2002 Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter
and other notable figures, to be announced.
The Nobel Peace Prize is the most prestigious award in the world.
Shirin Ebadi, the female Iranian human rights activist, will be
presented with her award on December 10th in Oslo. For the past
decade, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony has been followed the next day
by the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which is broadcast to over 150
countries and more than 450 million households around the world. In
the United States, the Concert will premiere on A&E Network on
Sunday, December 21st, 6-8 pm ET/PT. A&E Network has a rich tradition
of broadcasting a wide range of popular music series and specials,
including the award-winning "A&E's Live By Request" and last year's
Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The Concert has received worldwide fame
and the participation of A-list celebrity hosts and performers.
Tim McGraw will headline this year's concert. McGraw recently
released his eighth album, Tim McGraw and the Dance Hall Doctors, a
15-song collection that was accompanied by a NBC network special and
a book published by Simon & Schuster. Widely regarded as one of
country music's most popular and respected performers, McGraw has
sold over 27 million albums, had 21 number one singles and six multi-
platinum albums. In 2003, he picked up his fourth straight win at the
American Music Awards for Favorite Male Country Artist. He was also
nominated for Favorite Country Album and Fans' Choice Award at the
American Music Awards, and for Male, Album and Entertainer at the
Country Music Association Awards.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will join the ranks of
Jessica Lange and Anthony Hopkins, and Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson,
who hosted the Concert in 2002 and 2001, respectively. Producer and
actor Michael Douglas has been involved in such critical and
commercial successes as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (Academy
Award, Best Picture of the Year, Producer), "The China
Syndrome," "Wall Street" (Academy Award, Best Actor), "The American
President," "Traffic" and "Wonder Boys," for which he was nominated
for a Golden Globe. In 2002, Douglas played a guest role on the hit
NBC comedy "Will & Grace," and received an Emmy nomination for his
performance. In 1998, Secretary General Kofi Annan named Douglas a
Messenger of Peace for the United Nations. His two areas of
concentration are nuclear abolition and small arms proliferation. In
that same year, he formed his own production company, Furthur Films.
At this year's Golden Globe Awards, Douglas will receive the Cecil B.
DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press for his "outstanding
contribution to the entertainment field."
Catherine Zeta-Jones recently won the Academy Award for "Best
Supporting Actress" for her role as Velma Kelly in "Chicago." For the
same performance, she was nominated for a Golden Globe and took home
the SAG Award for "Best Supporting Actress." Zeta-Jones earned
another Golden Globe nomination for her role as the wife of a drug
runner in the critically praised film "Traffic." Zeta-Jones also
starred in blockbusters including "America's Sweethearts," "The Mask
of Zorro" and "Entrapment." Her most recent project is starring
opposite George Clooney in "Intolerable Cruelty."
Past Nobel Peace Prize Concert performers have been equally
noteworthy, including Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson,
Elton John, Tina Turner, Sting, Phil Collins, Alanis Morissette,
Sinead O'Connor, Natalie Cole, Moby, Shania Twain, Josh Groban,
Michelle Branch and Wyclef Jean. The Concert has a unique and
successful tradition of blending musical genres, from pop to rock to
classical and world music. All artists have the 60-piece Norwegian
Radio Orchestra, conducted by Martin Yates, at their disposal for
their performances.
Among those in attendance to watch the Concert live are the Norwegian
Royal Family, government and political VIPs and a public audience of
approximately 5,000 people. Tickets to the event sold out in record
time.
Select world leaders congratulating the new Laureate in videotaped
announcements join the hosts, performers and guests each year. In the
past, these have included Nobel Peace Laureates Aung San Suu Kyi of
Burma, Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, David Trimble and John
Hume of Northern Ireland, UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, Nelson
Mandela of South Africa, Mikhail Gorbachev of Russia and world
leaders such as former US President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister
Tony Blair of Great Britain. So far this year, former US President
and 2002 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jimmy Carter has committed to a
congratulatory message as well as Nobel Peace Laureate, Jody
Williams, of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
Shirin Ebadi is the first Muslim woman and the 11th woman overall to
be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize since its inception in 1901. The
Norwegian Nobel Committee honored Ebadi for her work on behalf of
democracy and human rights, which have specifically concentrated on
the rights of women and children. The 56-year-old Ebadi received her
law degree from the University of Tehran. For four years, she served
as president of the city court of Tehran. One of Iran's first female
judges, Ebadi was forced to step down after the Islamic Revolution.
She is the founder and leader of the Association for Support of
Children's Rights in Iran. She is also the author of a number of
books on human rights. She is currently practicing law and teaching
at the University of Tehran.

More than 1,000 music industry professionals from around the world
gathered for the presentation of the 41st annual ASCAP Country Music
Awards at Nashville's Opryland Hotel, proving once again that ASCAP
songs are at the heart of the success of country music.
Two Tim McGraw Tunes were honored at the event, "The Cowboy In Me"
written by Craig Wiseman, (who also won ASCAP Songwriter of the Year)
and "Unbroken" written by Annie Roboff and Holly Lamar.
Tim McGraw performed "Red Ragtop," the controversial first single
and top-five hit from his nominated album Tim McGraw and the
Dancehall Doctors.
The 2001 CMA Entertainer of the Year Tim McGraw has become a musical
force in the last decade, selling more than 27 million albums since
his debut in 1992. The Curb recording artist has won eight CMA Awards
during his career.
The 2003 CMA Awards were held November 5, 2003 on the CBS Television
Network from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
It takes a Real Good Man to be the first country star ever to crack
The Buzz List Top 20. Tim McGraw jumps this week to number 16.
The Buzz List caught up with Tim's tour in Uncasville, Connecticut
for his two-night-only stop at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Without the luxury of a warm-up act, Tim presented himself the
unappetizing challenge of taking the performance from 0-60 with the
help of only a microphone and his trademark black hat.
But whipping the crowd into a fervor would prove to be McGraw's
easiest trick of the evening, bringing the standing-room only
audience of 10,000+ to a raucous frenzy as he opened with perennial
crowd-pleaser "Comfort Me ."
The initial thunder morphed into a dull roar as four minutes later,
the hit-hungry crowd jumped to its feet once again for a barbecue-
stain-filled sing-along of "Something Like That."
Tim's two hour 23-song set list played like an extended greatest hits
album, including a satisfying mix of staples with "Red Rag
Top," "Real Good Man / The Ride," "Indian Outlaw," and "I Like it I
Love It."
There were plenty of surprises, including covers of Steve
Miller's "The Joker" and a special encore performance of "Tiny
Dancer." But the biggest surprise -- a semi-expected cameo of Tim's
ever-present significant other -- never actually materialized,
despite the ubiquity of excited murmurs in the crowd ('Is she here?
Is she here?') every time the lights went low.
Though short on crowd contact, Tim -- sporting a fitted black long-
sleeve v-neck and stylish faded jeans -- did take an opportunity to
address the throng just before launching into a soulful rendition
of "Don't Take the Girl."
"We were playing this tiny club in Texas," said McGraw, "and there
were 3,000 people packed into this place that was built to hold
1,500.
"We played this song for the first time ... and we knew we had a hit
when by the end, everyone was singing along with us."
If exacting audience participation is McGraw's gold standard for
measuring hits, then he might as well have been playing his Friday
night set in Fort Knox. From the first note, the crowd was Tim's to
lose.
He never did.

pound gorilla of country music. The Power List will become an annual
feature on CMT.

Not only is Tim McGraw going to record his next album with his own
band -- as he did his current one -- he also plans to return to the
same remote studio in New York's Catskill Mountains to do it.
McGraw's co-producer, Byron Gallimore, tells Hot Talk that recording
will probably commence in January and that he already has a lot of
songs selected.
McGraw updated reporters on matters of all sorts at a party held last
Thursday (Oct. 23) to honor George Teren and Rivers Rutherford, the
writers of his latest No. 1, "Real Good Man." He called it "a cool
attitude-song" that reminded him of the kind of songs Hank Williams
Jr. favors. "I'm a big fan of his," he said. He revealed that he's
not just producing the Warren Brothers but also doing some co-writing
with them. In the past, he's left songwriting to others. He lamented
that radio stations have largely ignored the version of the Warren
Brothers' current single, "Sell a Lot of Beer," on which he and Kenny
Chesney chime in with guest vocals.
The singer predicted that his wife, Faith Hill, who's wrapping up her
role in the remake of The Stepford Wives, will be "a huge movie
star." He noted that he has a role in Black Cloud, the upcoming
independent film that actor Rick Schroder directs. McGraw squelched
the rumor that he and his family are moving to Beverly Hills, Calif.,
("The Beverly Hillbillies," he smirked) where they've bought a
house. "No, we're not moving," he stressed. "I can't stand to be out
there more than a week at a time." He said, however, that because he
and Hill have three kids and need a place other than a hotel to stay
when they're on the coast for extended business, it just made sense
to buy.
Tim McGraw celebrated his 21st #1 hit with writers George Teren and
Rivers Rutherford at BMI. Most of music row turned out to
celebrate "Real Good Man" in the number one spot for 2 weeks. Tim
thanked the writers for the song and producers, Byron Gallimore and
Darren Smith, and the rest of the Dance All Doctors for such a great
record. So the next time you hear Real Good Man you can think of all
the Real Good Men behind the music.
