Hi all,
Australian Idol runner up and now successful recording artist Shannon
Noll performed 3 concerts in Hobart at the Derwent Entertainment
Centre on June 4th, 5th and 6th.
By now there have been many reports on Shannons Hobart shows, I
recommend the 'shannon_aus_idol' list for lots more on Shannon
and his tour.
Here I will just mention some highlights of Shannon's Hobart Show for
me (I attended the Saturday 5th June 2004 performance):
First on stage were support act Zinc, consisting of Adam, Marc and
Johnno. Zinc performed for about half an hour and chatted to the
audience between songs. They were friendly and seemed to be enjoying
their time in Tasmania and had got to see the snow on the mountain.
It was also nice to see them genuinely excited about their first
single 'The Morning After' being aired on the Channel 10 music
program Video Hits (hosted by Australian Idol contestants Kelly
Cavuoto and Axel Whitehead).
Shannon's performance opened with 'Drive', the second single of his
debut album 'What about me'. He performed his new single 'Learn to
Fly', other album tracks and some cover songs he had performed on
Australian Idol including the Robbie Williams song 'Better Man' of
which he did a popular rendition of on the show.
He also sang with his brothers and on a few occassions he stood up on
the speakers that were on the stage to sing and he egged on one of
his guitarists to do the same, the guitarist obliged while a stage
person held the speaker in place for support.
Chatting with audience between songs he quoted the movie 'Spinal Tap'
saying "I'm Shannon Noll and you must be Tasmania".
Shannon congratulated (and clapped) the Tassie audiences for being
the only venue to clap when he introduced his David Hookes
tribute 'Gone too soon' 2 nights in a row.
His first single 'What about me' was the final song for the evening,
performed as the encore after his rendition of 'Working class man'.
See the photos area for some snaps of the show.
