I'm writing to let you know about a special house concert we are organizing
in Modesto on October 19th at 8 PM. John Roberts will be performing English
and other folksongs on concertina, banjo, and vocals. I had heard John play
in the 1970's and his playing was the initial inspiration for me to take up
concertina. As a special treat, John will be joined by Tim Graffham and
Steve Kenworthy on one or two songs. This will be a very special evening -
don't miss it. If you can't make it to Modesto, John is also performing in
San Francisco and Oakland on the 20th and 21st.

Northern California Welcomes Renowned Folk Singer John Roberts.

Accompanying himself on concertina and banjo, John Roberts, originally from
England, is at the forefront of the English folksong revival. He is widely
recognized on both sides of the Atlantic as a master singer of ballads,
songs of the sea, of rural pursuits, of social and sociable situations, of
industrial toil and strife, and much more. John will be appearing at three
separate venues in Northern California in October:

Kenworthy in Modesto.
* Saturday, October 20th, 8:00pm. On board the Balclutha at Hyde
Street Pier, San Francisco.
* Sunday, October 21st, 3:00pm. House Concert in at the home of

wooden decks of a historic sailing ship! San Francisco Maritime National
Historical Park presents concerts by renowned performers of sailor songs and
chanteys. The 19th Annual Sea Music Concert Series presents John Roberts
aboard the historic ship Balclutha at Hyde Street Pier.
