RE: [TracyIrishSession] New to the group

Don,

You're welcome to join in.  We meet the third Sunday of every month.  I started trying to put this together to fill a session void here in Tracy and soon found that while there are a couple of us in Tracy, the musicians range from Tracy to Stockton and Modesto.  So we've been alternating house sessions between Tracy and Stockton.

Regulars at our sessions include mandolin, concertina, fiddles, whistle, uilleann pipes, banjo.  We've been doing about about 90% irish with the occasional blue grass or old time thrown in just for fun.  We're a pretty laid back group of mixed experience level and mixed repertoire.  We tend to play up-to-speed-ish on tunes that we all know but we also go intermediate on tunes that only a few know.

It's a fun group, you should come by if Stockton isn't too far for you.  Check out the calendar in this group for info on where and when and for info on sessions in Dublin and Modesto as well.  There's also a Wednesday night session in Davis and a monthly in Sacramento.

Let us know if you have any questions.  We look forward to meeting you.

Cheers,
Tim

Subject: [TracyIrishSession] New to the group

Hello all,

I live in Sonora and play the bouzouki. I have gone to the
Coulterville sessions, but they are getting too "old timey" for me, so
I thought I'd try somewhere else. Is this a well experienced session
group, or are some slow session types? I've only been at this a couple
of years, so I am still getting up to speed. I also just bought a
mandola that I am having lots of fun with. How many usually show up
for your sessions? What instruments are there? Somebody please fill me
in so that I can decide if I will fit in your mix.

Thanks,
Don Milam
