TSF website and December Meeting   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #162 of 1706 |
I have now updated the TSF website. I am sorry for the delay but there hasn't
been a great deal of news coming in over the last three months or so.

For the benefit of the discussion group members not on the TSF mailing list I
would like to let you know details of the December meeting to which you are,sof
course, invited. Details for the day are as follows:

The meeting will be held on Saturday 4th December 2004 starting at 10:00 at The
University of Sheffield Music Department, Broomhill, Sheffield. The department
is situated on the corner of Taptonville Rd and Hallamgate Rd., The running
order for the meeting will be as follows:
10:00 - 11:30
Informal Review of Forum member's activities and projects.

11:30 - 12:15
Proposals by EFDSS on the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library - discussion
to establish how TSF can help

12:15 - 12:30
Forum business

12:30 - 14:00
Lunch

14:00 - 16:30
Forum Focus:

In the Forum Focus session this time we will have three presentations:

Doc Rowe will tell all about his archive following its recent 'official
opening' bash. It is real! - and deceptively spacious! (A short visit may be
possible at the end of the meeting, time and inclination permitting)

Dave Eyre will talk about local carol traditions and expand on his
exploration of related American traditions (Dave will also be bringing his book
stall)

Martin Graebe will talk about early song collecting by Sabine
Baring-Gould in Yorkshire and his first publication of a collected song as a
result.

Arrangements for the meeting are being made by Steve Gardham working with
Jonathan Stock of University of Sheffield. If you would like details of local
B&Bs please contact Steve or me. This is a weekend when the local traditional
carol singers will be in full voice. If you want to know details of where to
see them in action contact Dave Eyre (dave@... or 01142 344044).
If you have any friends who you think might like to come please feel free to
invite them. There has already been a lot of interest expressed in the meeting
so we would appreciate it if you could let us know if you are planning to attend
so that we can make sure we have enough room.

The hard copy notices have gone out today - if you are a hard copy receiver
you can either send me the return slip or let me know by e-mail whether you are
coming - you don't need to do both.

If you have changed your e-mail or postal address or no longer wish to receive
these mails please let me know.

Best wishes to all

Dear Martin, Well at last a date on which theoretically I'm free - but sadly as it's in Sheffield I couldn't make it and be down in dorset for Mum's ashes...
