A Veritable Dungheap   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #325 of 1706 |
Hi,
Firstly apologies to Derek Schofield. I accidentally sent a personal
message intended for Derek to the TSF site. I simply replied to his
last message which came via TSF site. This happens frequently on the
Ballad List discussion group site.
Secondly, if you haven't already seen it the 'A Veritable Dungheap'
articles which appeared as a series in English Dance and Song are now
available in a revised form on The Musical traditions website, with
kind thanks to Derek as editor of ED&S. One new article is already
added and another one is on the way. Both Rod and I invite extra
comments to be put into an addendum for each article.
If you are not familiar with the articles they take either individaual
ballads/themes and trace their evolution on broadsides and in the oral
tradition from 17th century to date.
Also Roly Brown has an excellent series of articles on Baring Gould's
collecting on the website.

All the best,
Steve (Dungbeetle) Gardham
