Join Gamelan Tunas Mekar at the seventh annual Boulder Asian Festival.
This year's Festival will showcase local Asian Pacific American talent
through arts, crafts, dance, music and food. Come and enjoy the
entertainment, sushi, samosas and special children's activities.
Tunas Mekar will perform two pieces (Balaganjur processional and
Cendrawasih "Bird of Paradise") on Saturday, Aug. 25 starting at
2:20pm. It's brief, so don't be late!
Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays in the parking garages
(11th and Walnut, 11th and Spruce, and 14th and Walnut, 15th and
Pearl). Metered parking is not free on Saturdays.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tunas Mekar member Michael Swank who was awarded a
Darmasiswa scholarship, through the Indonesian government, to study
traditional Indonesain music at STSI in Denpasar, Bali for this coming
school year. Mike has written two pieces for Tunas Mekar, one for
gamelan angklung and one for gong Semara Dana. We hope to hear much
more wonderful music from Mike after a year saturated in the culture.

COLORADO PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL

Join Tunas Mekar at the lovely Colorado Performing Arts Festival for an
outside performance on the Terrace Stage of the DPAC. Tunas Mekar will
perform on the traditional gamelan angklung instruments, and will
perform both instrumental and dance pieces.
