Sorry I need to vent with people who could possibly feel my pain.
Some of you may have already heard that thieves got into my car yesterday
(Saturday) and
stole my CD carry case which contained about 30 CDs, including 13 of my U2 CDs.
That's
everything from Boy to Atomic Bomb, including Best Of 1980-1990 with B Sides,
minus
Wide Awake in America. I had thought I only kept the regular Best Of 1 in the
carry case,
but the regular issue is in my room. I can't really explain the horror, but
some of you may
imagine how you'd feel. I went to HMV today to see if I could track down all the
CDs, which
they had except the pre-Remastered Joshua Tree, and of course Best of 2 with B
Sides. It's
going to cost at least $300 to buy everything. I had attempted a while back to
record the
albums onto blank CDs, but most U2 albums don't all fit on the one recordable CD
each,
so I figured it was easier to keep the albums handy. I really don't need to be
told now that
it would be better if I'd made recordings of the albums.
The CD case was in my boot, and the back seat had been pulled down to get into
the
boot. I'm sure I locked the car, but didn't check to see if the button actually
locked when I
pressed my central locking remote. One of the first things I was asked by
shopping centre
security was `Did you lock your car?' Now, why would I leave my car if I knew it
was
unlocked?
My gym bag was also stolen, but was found dumped with only my gym shoes missing
(another $100 to replace those). I had hoped that whoever took my CDs changed
their
mind about the U2, Rush, Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, but no sign of those. I don't
mind
missing the Eminem. Funnily enough, two of my Robbie Williams CDs were left on
the
front passenger seat, as was my sealed, new copy of The Very Best of Deep
Purple.
On a bittersweet note, that morning I'd finally found my watch that was missing
since
June, in my gym bag where I hadn't noticed it before. The watch was given to me
by my
mother, who died on New Years Eve 2005. I was in such a cheerful mood that
morning
and was wearing the watch when I found my looted car.
Anyway, a friend of mine sent me a link to cheer me up, so I thought I'd share
the link too:

Hope the rest of you are having a better weekend than me.
