Irene, I saw the photos just before now! Yeah, he didn't hand the
crane to staff, he was holding it while he was walking to main stage
from B-stage!!

Nick-san, thank you very very much for sharing the photos...

Hugs
Yumi

Ingrid, I really look forward to seeing your photos. I did not take
any pictures myself, so I'm appreciating the images shared by everyone.

This show was just incredible! I think it was the best that I have
seen over the past 20 years. U2's energy was high in response to the
crowd, and they had such a great time out there.

Smiles.

Hello Yumi.

This couldn't have been without you. Thank you SO much for opening
your heart and allowing me to drive you crazy. HUGS.

It was a pleasure to have you at our family's house. You're a sweet
part of the memories there this weekend.

Yes Loic, thank you very much for running around the GA lines passing
out the cranes. A member in interference.com remembers you and Yumi
well. You were a big help out there in reaching the fans.

Mark, we look forward to hearing from you about how things are going
for your wife and family. Thanks to you we got a good boost of warmth
outside of that meet and greet. The coffee was good too. ;)

More details keep coming in about this amazing night. :D

Hello hello everyone :)

I write about what I did doing on Dce 3rd and 4th (it's like a my
diary, I think).

At Dec 3rd. I visited to Kato family's house at Chofu city in Tokyo
(Irene's husband's home).
Irene and Yui were waiting for me near the Chofu station. And I
finally met them there!
And they took me their home and I met Eiko chan, Kiyomi san and some
Kato families. They are very kind and sweet.
Irene and Yui showed me the banner of zootopian for Hottokenai what
they made. It's amazing and fantastic.
I'm very happy that I signed my name on it first!

At Dce 4th. I met Irene, Yui and Kiyomi san at the cafe near the
arena.
And went to John lennon museum.
And we went to E-2 gate of the arena.
There are already many fans in front of the gate to wait for the
band's arrival.
We met Carly, Mark and some Zootopians there. (Mark, thank you for
coffee!)
And Irene showed to people the banner that she received from
Patrick, and showed Hottokenai's banner. And Irene and Yui explained
about the banners to everyone there.
I was very happy that many people signed on it!
Also we were passing the cranes to people there and we moved to
around N gate, and then we were passing the crane there. Ken,
Masanori and Loic helped us to pass the crane to people there, thank
you!!

And 6pm, we entered to the arena. And Yui, Kiyomi san and me stayed
together in front of Adam's B-stage. And we were passing the cranes
to people at around Adam's and Edge's B-stage. I was very happy that
some people helped us to pass the cranes to other people!!

I'm now thinking of those moments...Irene and Yui, you guys are
wonderful, and I respect you.

And thank you very much, everyone.

Hugs
Yumi

Everyone! Everyone!....

I just got in from Japan and I'm physically and emotionally dizzy with
the whirlwind of events.

It was beyond fabulous being there with your peace cranes and the
banner too.

Peace cranes were passed out to many at the meet and greet, people in
the brief GA lines, and then most of them inside the GA itself. If you
could have only seen Yui, Ken, and I running like hell with the bags
of cranes to get inside. It was a bit crazy, but they did make it inside.

Yui grabbed a spot at Adam's B-stage with my niece and sister-in-law
and passed them out there. I aimed for the front rail and got one
person back front Bono and just handed out cranes backwards and
sideways with the help of our friends Masanori and Ken. It was a
super tight squeeze in there as I could hardly reach down to get them
at times, but we did our best. Other fans around us helped as well so
that was great.

I can't tell you how surprised I was to see Bono with a crane in hand
during First Time. I managed a peek at the screen and saw it in his
hand! I screamed, "OMG, it's a crane. He has a crane." One guy
behind asked if those were the ones. He was excited too. Really, I
thought I was seeing things in the midst of my true vertigo. Sure
enough, he walked back toward main stage with it in hand, held it while
walking across the front, and then put it down Edge side. Oh my!!!

Yumi, I can only imagine how you felt at that moment happen right in
front of you. Viva Italia!!!! Isn't it great that they didn't wait
til ONE? LOL.

I wonder whose crane he held. It could have been one of yours. :D

Really, it's such a HUGE moment that you all helped create!!!! Bono
held one of our cranes for ONE/Hottokenai on stage in
Saitama!!!!!!!!!! Woooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo!!! Hee hee.

Once Bono started talking about Hottokenai and the Global Fund, I took
out the special crane that I made in Noreen's honor and held it up
high. I didn't see anyone else do it yet, but once Bono started to
sing, I saw at least 10 around me come out. We were all right in
front of Bono holding these cranes while he sang. I was thrilled that
he might see them and that these fans were into it. It's also cool
that he held a crane earlier and possibly read the ONE/Hottokenai
written on there meaning that he would know what all of these cranes
in the air were for. Bono, you're not alone in your work.

Nick, a new U2 friend of ours, was right on the rail just on Bono's
right. He said that Bono's face lit up when he saw them. :D Me
might even have a picture, but I'm not sure. Nick said that he'll
share what he has once he's back in the States.

Yui, my niece, and Kiyomi, my sister in law, have incredibly amazing
video footage of when he picks up the crane. They also have ONE where
you can see some of the cranes up high. I'll let you know once they
have them ready to share.

I'm most happy about the reaction of a good number of fans, mostly at
the meet and greet, to the cranes. Teamed up with the banner they
really expressed interest in getting involved and active. For a few
it was their first time learning about the cranes so I got to
introduce them to Sadako as well. One fan from Korea said he'd like
to get a group working in Korea as they don't have anything like ONE
there. :)

One fan from Korea said he'd like
to get a group working in Korea as they don't have anything like ONE
there. :)

Am just thinking of all of you who will be gearing up for the concert
tonight and wishing it is everything you have hoped for.

The interviews I've seen posted from Asahi TV have been fun to watch...
not to mention the rooftop performances, and Bono's voice sounds
perfect.

Can hardly wait for Hawaii!

Hi everyone:

I`m in Tokyo and would like to catch the 12/4 show but don`t have
tickets yet. Does anyone have a pair they want to sell?

Were there many people selling tickets at Saitama Super Arena before
the 11/29 and 11/30 shows? Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers,

David, thanks for the word about the Shibuya event.  I think it would be cool to check out the U2 fan scene in Japan at this event.

More info is at u2japan.com and http://u2holic.com/u2tribute/tribute.html .

I don't know if I'll go, but it's out there for anyone that's interested.

Here's the info David.  I hope that you can make it.  Everyone is invited!

A friend of ours in the Zoo, razspazz, has a band named "bookofcaverns".  They are playing at a club called Mandala in Kichijoji, Tokyo, and their set begins around 9 PM on 12/2.

This is the original Mandala  club, not Manda-la2.  You'll see a map on this web page and Mandala appears in the lower left corner written in Japanese.  Can you believe that my husband used to hang out here during his glory days?  His rugby coach is the owner!  LOL

I'm not sure when or where others are meeting, but I am arriving after 9.   I'll make it for their set, hopefully, as I arrive at Narita that day around 4 PM.

Yumi, do you have any more details about this?

Here's raz's most recent post in the Zoo:
Hey gang, not long now!! Here is a map of Mandala(it's the one with the Japanese name, not Manda-la 2) for my bands show on December 2nd. When you get to Kichijoji Station just head for the 'Park Exit' there are signs in English directing you that way. There is a small set of stairs down to street level, that is a good place to meet. There will be a few people meeting there between 4 and 5 p.m. (right??) If all else fails head in the direction of Inokashira Dori and turn right. (The venue is in a tiny door, downsatirs with lots of band posters on the walls.)

I can't get an exact start time from the Mandala people. My understanding is we will be on-stage around 9:00p.m. maybe a little before.
