Friends: This is a letter from my sister concerning my mom, whom she is caring
for (mom has lung cancer). I pass it on with the ask for prayers if you please.
I talked to her earlier and she fears, as I do, that it could have been a very
minor stroke or something equally as serious and as hard to pinpoint....

I'm sending this blind copy to several poeple so I don't have to type it more
than once. Don't think I could handle that. We had a major scare today! Mom
fainted at the bookstore. Felt nauseous then keeled over. I was a couple
aisles over, next thing I know I'm being paged as she wasn't in my sight.
She wasn't out long--45 seconds. I went out to get the wheel chair, came back,
they had her in anice cushioned chair (b & N), and she was saying she was fine,
take me home and sort of passed back out. I say sort of as I'm not sure what to
call it. her eyes were open but they glazed over, rolled and she went non
responsive to my voice. manager called for ambulance. I kept talking trying to
her. She finally started responding. Told her ambulance was coming. she said
she didn't need one ---wasn't quite with it but I knew with those words she was
coming around! said she felt fine, just take her home! then she came around
completely by the time help got there. Told her she had to go get checked--used
her wrist as part of the reason as she hurt it in the fall. had the fire dept
and EMT"s there. quite a show!
So she got an ambulance ride to tracy sutter--no lights though. Upshot is that
she is fine. she passed out once before a year ago and it was the same
thing--feeling sick, getting up for a wet rag and keeling over so something
about her feeling sick seems to do this.
She broke her wrist--left--not bad. Taking her to kaiser 630 tonight to get it
casted. As you all can imagine, she's more pissed about the whole thing. If
the
ER had tried to admit her she'd have left on foot !! No way was she staying
so she back to her normal stubborn "cross patchy" self.
All her other blood work and chest xrays were fine so the concensus is she
fainted. But she scared the cra* out of me. Thought I was losing her.
Not sure what caused it. We had been in two stores before. Maybe she did too
much, got too warm, not enough fluids, who knows. Anyway, she is fine, in a bit
of pain but not too bad. Eating and feeling totally disgusted over the entire
event.
Not sure how I"M doing yet.
