I'd love to come and visit your church just to hear that!

Hello,
About a year ago, I was introduced to Randy Stonehill's song "Shut
De Do". The praise ensemble that I direct at church has been
singing it ever since.
I am VERY interested in knowing the ORIGIN of this song. I know
that Randy wrote/copyrighted it in 1983. This song has such a
wonderful "old spiritual" (1800's?) feel and message to it, that I
was wondering if it was originally a 19th century (or
so) "spiritual" that Randy put his creative "signature" on.
Respectfully,
Rob Magallon
