For Immediate Release: The War Against The Teeny-Boppers Compilation
CD released!
Local music collective the Invin-Kor Artistic Alliance has
recently launched itself as an independent label with the release of
their first official compilation CD, The War Against The Teeny-
Boppers. The Vancouver based organization received submissions
from around the world, and the final track listing represents
artists from six different countries.
The project was launched over two years ago, as a response
to the growing dominance of the Pop-driven corporate music industry.
"The idea was that we wanted to promote music that actually
stood for something," explains Mike Reid, Invin-Kor's Director of
Operations and Communications. "We wanted to give some bands that
don't fit into the mainstream the chance to be heard by a broader
audience."
With tracks coming from as near as Maple Ridge, and as far
away as England, Poland, Brazil and Australia, The War represents a
real diversity of sound and philosophy.
"Music is a very powerful force," said Ryan Larocque,
founder and Director at IK, "The War is the perfect vehicle for some
of these bands with a real message to get that message, and their
music, out there."
The War Against The Teeny-Boppers is best described as a
compilation of hard and heavy music. "Some of it is very
electronic, some of it is very metal, some of it is very industrial –
it's not all that easy to pigeon-hole it," explains Reid.
While the 17 track audio CD was always the main focus, the
project expanded to include a multimedia disc as well.
"We found that we were getting so many great tracks, we just
had to make more available than would fit on one CD," says
Larocque, "and with so many other artists interested in the project,
a multimedia disc just seemed like the right way to go."
So far, Invin-Kor has been selling the CDs on their own,
through the artists and labels represented on the CDs, and at local
shows. Currently they are looking into larger scale distribution
for this and future projects.
Anyone interested in contacting Invin-Kor or learning more
about their plans can find them online at www.invinkor.com. Audio
CDs are available for $10, multimedia for $7, or $15 for a set of
both.
