Does VP. work with Windows Vista? Does it display the graphical
representation of a sample in sample mode? Can you edit a sample in VP.?
and will the edits be made permanent in the hardware unit of my
K2600RS? When I say edit I mean can you trim a sample in VP.? ,or will
that still need to be done on the hardware unit itself? What low to mid
priced midi interfaces would anyone suggest? Thanks to anyone and
everyone who can help answer these questions for me. I'm not new to
programming on my Kurzweil K2600RS, but I am when it comes to useing a
computer.I just stepped into the twenty first century and got my first
computer about six weeks ago. When I found out that this program
existed my eyeballs immediately started hi fiveing eachother. The
cryptic display is a real pain if you enjoy exploreing the depths of
these instruments and I would greatly appreciate any relief. Thanks

Hi I just posted to the group about my problems getting plumbstone up and
running in
my OS 10.4 mac. I know this isn't your app. But every time I try to test it
using the two
lines of code in the testing directions I get errors in the Terminal app. After
typing the
first line, if I hit the enter key to begin the next line I get and imediate
error msg. I've
tried to just hit the space bar to begin the other line and the result is the
same. There is
nothing wrong with my midi signal path. I tested it using another app and it's
fine. And
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to using your app. I
have the
midi i/o selected in your app's dialog window.

I saw this thread after several unsucessful attempts to run the app VP and it's
counter
part PlumStone. I think the problem is in Plumstone and getting it to function.
I'm
running OS 10.4. There is nothing wrong with the signal path between the mac and
my
K2500R. I use a motu MTP AV usb as the interface. But when opening VP and doing
the
setup of i/o ports the Krz is not recognised. I see a list of 8 ports to choose
from and
have chosen the proper midi out and in ports. When I try to test plumstone via
the
Terminal app. the fun begins. At the cursor in terminal I try to type the two
lines of code
and never get past the first line. If I hit the space bar or the enter bar [to
begin the next
line of code ] I get and error msg. I am typing the line of code carefully and
exactly. I
don't get what I'm doing wrong and I do not know how to interperet the jargon in
the
error msg. Thanks if you can help.

Hi all!
This is a new group's invitation:
The new Yahoo group "KORG-KURZWEIL-ROLAND-YAMAHA" will discuss only
subjects concerning joint/combined using keyboards/synthesizers of
two or more most popular brands, comparing models of different brands
including their sounds, specifications, features, reliabilitry, midi,
etc.
But our group "KORG-KURZWEIL-ROLAND-YAMAHA" can discuss even any
SINGLE model which you think is best - so that will be a challenge
for others who have different opinion. And those others, I hope, will
share with us their minds. I believe this discussion will be
interesting for both parties and also for those who have much less
knowledge/experience or don't have at all.
This group is for PROFESSIONALS and NOT Professionals interested in
combined using models of different brands as well as for new buyers
who tries to make a choice (a really difficult choice in these days).
Is there anybody who knows all lacks and advantages of most (if not
all) models? I don't think so, and that is exactly this group is
created for. But if THERE IS a such unique expert in all (or in many,
or even in two) models we encourage that person to share with us
his/her valuable opinions/experience.
Let us take a most advantage of all brands. Join our group!
Thanks.
Moderator.

There's some useful info here that will help you understand MIDI
connections...
http://www.myatari.net/issues/apr2002/midi.htm
It's about connecting to an Atari computer (remember those) but it
still applies today - just replace "Atari" with "PC" or "Mac" and
you're set.
Maybe one day Vast Programmer will have a MIDI THRU function which
will solve a lot of these problems in a blink.
Cheers, Andy M.
Andy,
Thanks for your response. I setup midi connections as you advised in
your first configuration example, and VASTprogrammer works like a
charm.
I haven't tried your second (merge) example, which will also allow
me to control my K2500R. I have a Kawai MAV8 midi patchbay, which I
think will allow me to do what you have described.
Don't know why, but I always have a problem figuring cabling
configurations for Midi. I've done computer programming, database
development and web design, but for some reason or other I have a
mental block when it comes to midi cabling/configuration.
I wish there was a good online resource that would give examples and
layouts of simple and complex midi device layouts.
Anyway, thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it. And kudos
to Mike for developing VP and making it available.

Hi Mike,
I have run through the VP and it is a great help to change sounds and
parameters but I would ask you to look if it is possible to make a
graffic interface such as in sounddiver or MIDI Quest? It would for me
make the programming much easyer. and a piano keys at the bottom would
help me too.
thanks
You are correct in assuming that your MIDI connections are wrong.
The MIDI out from the RS5 is fine for controlling the K2500 but it
will not pass on data from the interface. For data to travel from the
interface to the RS5 and then onto the Kurz you need to connect like
this:-
Interface MIDI out -> RS5 MIDI in
RS5 MIDI THRU -> Kurzweil MIDI in
However this means that you will no longer be able to control the Kurz
from the Roland because the Kurz needs the RS5's MIDI out signal.
The way to solve this is to use a MIDI Merge box and combine the MIDI
out from the interface with the MIDI out from the Roland and connect
the merged signal into the Kurz.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Andy

Thanks for the reply Mike.
I tried 'Learn' mode but nothing changed. Just to clarify; I cannot
edit the parameters on the effects page - wet/dry mix and FX control.
They're to ones I want to change and it seems they cannot be
"learned" by VP.

Hi all,
I'm attempting to use VASTprogrammer for the first time, however
during the initial configuration I cannot get the software to
recognize my K2500R. I think this may have to do with the way I have
my physical midi connections made.
I am using a Roland RS-5 to control my K2500. My Midi interface is a
MidiSport 2x2. I have the midi out of the interface going to the
midi in of the RS-5. I have the midi out of the RS-5 going to the
midi in of the K2500. And I have the midi out of the K2500 going to
the midi in of the interface.
VP sees the interface, but not the K2500. I've checked the device
number on the K2500 and matched it to the device number in the VP
configuration. I'm probably doing something very stupid here that I
just can't see. Any advice and direction would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks very much.

Hi, I'm new to VP and this group so first I would like to say thank you very much for Vast Programmer - it's proving invaluable to me now as my K2500 screen no longer works.
One feature request: it seems that I cannot edit the effects with VP - I mean the standard Digitech effects, not KDFX. The parameters show up in VP but they cannot be changed there. This is the same regardless of the mode, Program, Setup, Effects etc.
Can this be implemented in the next version please..?
And one more FR... Can we have some keyboard commands - arrow keys for example?
Hi, I'm new to VP and this group so first I would like to say thank
you very much for Vast Programmer - it's proving invaluable to me now
as my K2500 screen no longer works.
One feature request: it seems that I cannot edit the effects with VP -
I mean the standard Digitech effects, not KDFX. The parameters show
up in VP but they cannot be changed there. This is the same
regardless of the mode, Program, Setup, Effects etc.
Can this be implemented in the next version please..?
And one more FR... Can we have some keyboard commands - arrow keys
for example?
Thanks again for this great software.

I was just wondering - is there a web site, or other resource, that discusses Mr. Kurzweil's life and his philosophies, scientific ideas, etc.?
What little I have read about him seems to suggest that he is a bit of an eccentric.... then again, nearly all geniuses are eccentric in one way or another.

Hey guys! I guess you're right. I must have missed the first real
message including spam and just reacted to a second one that wasn't.
Anyway, I must have missed something, that's typical me!! ;-)
Sorry ;-)
Umm, I'm not exactly OK with the piano post Nach (awacks). I
consider
the post is spam (Tom, you have my vote, if necessary).
Has that individual who posted contributed anything to this site?
If so, why was that posted? I find no relevance for its post on this
particular site.
I would apprecaite that the easy teaching piano post be removed. It
has no place in virtual architechtual synthesis technological
programming.
Now if they can teach all aspects of V.A.S.T. in a few easy steps for
3 easy payments through pattern recognition, I'm all ears.
