We had a really great time at the Meadowland Plaza Hotel on on Saturday,May 30.
This evening's program was the best of the three gatherings (I've attended them
all).
The guests included noted Vaughn Monroe Orchestra alumni, guitarist Bucky
Pizzarelli and his lovely wife, bass guitarist Jerry Bruno and Trombonist Tom
Bennett along with Tinker Rautenberg of the original Moonmaids. Dick Bagni, son
of sax player Andy Bagni was also in attendance. There was also a crew that was
preparing a documentary on Bucky's life.
While eating a great Italian dinner, we heard some great stories about the band
and the music and how life was in those days. We had a lot of questions and got
a lot of answers.
Diner was followed by a wonderful musical performance by Bucky, Jerry Bruno and
Tom Bennett, with Tinker doing the vocals. We went through quite a large
repertoire.
A round of applause for Claire for an outstanding job (as usual).
