about release dates for a couple albums. You were very kind to help by having a
gentleman e-mail me with recording dates for the albums; but, I have never been
able to find out the release date for the 45rpm "RCA Smart Set – Dreamland
Special". I know that the original 78rpm album was released in about October or
November, 1946. Since 45rpm records weren't even being made at that time, the
45-Smart Set had to have been released several years later. As far as I know,
45rpm's weren't on the market until 1948, at the earliest.

I'm sure it's an excellent book, I'm only interested in this one bit of
information, and was hoping to avoid having to purchase the book, because I'm
not sure even it has the information I'm looking for.

GEMM.COM WHO HAD YOUR 45 RPM ALBUM(OR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE ONE YOU HAD,
ANOTHER EXTENDED RPM 45 WAS ALSO ISSUED) AND CLAIMED IT WAS RELEASE ON JANUARY
1, 1951. YOU STATE IN YOUR LETTER THAT THE YEAR 1951 WAS INVOLVED. I SENT YOU A
COPY OF HIS SELLER'S OFFER VIA YOUR E MAIL ADDRESS STATED IN THE LETTER ABOVE.
DID YOU CONTACT THE SELLER AND QUESTION HIS AUTHORITY ON CITING THAT DATE AS
IT'S RELEASE DATE? WAS THE ONE HE WAS SELLING THE ONE YOU HAVE? INTERESTED IN
KNOWING IF YOUR PROBLEM WAS SOLVED?

Jim,
My guess is that the album was re-released as a 45 rpm, as were many original
78rpm releases. This album was also released as a cassette
tape in the 1980's, also a not uncommon practice.
